Shauna,

crystal light, and water. >>

I heard crystal light mentioned more than once on this forum. What

is it exactly?

It is a powder drink. You make it like kool-aid, but it already has the sweetner

in it for you. It is a sugar free drink.

<< ... I am on a protein train right now ... >>

What's a protein train?

A protein train is when a few of us do nothing but protein shakes and eat ONLY

protein foods in smaller ammounts with LOTS of water. It detoxes our bodies from

the carbs and such. It helps to kind of jump start us back into losing again. It

is safe.

You mention protein shakes. Is this powdered protein mixed with non-

fat milk? How much do you drink? How long does it take?

It is a protein poweder that you add non-fat milk or water to. I can't do milk,

so I just add water. I was told to take in my protein shake first thing in the

morning with nothing in my stomach so that it absorbs more... I take in about

40gms then... later I have another 20g prtein shake. It depends on you and how

many grams you need in a day. I need 79 gms a day for my body weight. So I take

in 60 in protein shakes and then another 20gms through out the day in protein

foods such as cheeses, yogurt, eggs, and meats.

<< Your meal should last between 20-30 min. and anything after that

is grazing. >>

How can you stretch out eating 2 - 3 oz. of food into 30 minutes?

What's grazing?

2-3 oz of food is not a lot, perhaps you can eat an ounce of food over a ten

minute period. Just take small bites and put your fork down untill you chew up

what you have well and swallow, then pick your fork back up and do it again. If

you keep that fork in your hand, you are more liable to eat too fast and make

yourself sick.

Grazing is when you eat past your 30 min or through out the day off schedual.

Its when you eat something and then 15 min later you eat a little again, and

then so on like every few min snacking on something. It is not good to

continuously eat through out the day and stay full.

<< (beer) stretches the pouch with the gases ... >>

Is that possible? Sounds scary.

I hope I am correct on this, but this is what I hear quite often. It is not good

to have carbanation in your pouch. Causes bloating and stretches the pouch.

I've heard that it's important to chew your food well so that it may

pass through the opening. I have one of those Vita-Mix blenders that

I've never used. This thing is supposed to be able to grind wood

chips to sawdust. Has anybody found a use for it post-op?

It is important to have a way to grind up meets and so on untill you are ready

to eat them and chew them without having to puree. Some use and some don't. You

really have to pay attention as to how big of a piece of food you are chewing

and swallowing.

Some people in the group have signatures like 264/xxx/130. What do

these numbers mean?

264 is the beginning weight at surgery/xxx is the weight they have lost/ and 130

is the persons goal weight.

Like mine is 343/86/257 343 my beginning/ 86 how much I have lost/ and 257 is my

current weight. You can do this however you want.

It seems mostly women are here, and that's fine, but any men in the

house?

Yes we have other men on here. Right now the most active is Mike T and Mike

haha.

Thanks to all who reply ... and have replied. Much appreciated.

<< A protein train is going back to protein drinks to help bust a

plateau & get you back on track. Some people do just protein drinks

all day. >>

I like the notion of a protein train, especially the " shakes only "

version. Do people do it for more extended periods, like for maybe 10

days or two weeks?

<< Protein shakes do come in powder form. You can mix w/ nonfat milk

or water. >>

How much do you drink at one sitting and how long whould it take? Like

8 oz, 20 min. 10 oz, 30 min?

<< ... use a blender for some of my meals like soups ... >>

Is it not safe then to eat soup like you would normally? Like tomato

soup (the smooth variety) I assume there would no need to run through

a blender. But a coaser soup you must puree? What about chicken noodle

soup? Pasta is not generally allowed, but what about if it's purreed

in a soup? What about baby food? Seems lie a natural fit - all the

vitamins and minerals and well-balanced too?

Thanks for the great info!
