Guest guest
Hi, I am 17 days post op and feeling really good actually. I will admit the 1st week was rough, but after that it got better. It is such a relief to read that so many of us wired folks seek new adventures in the food department. I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor April 2001 and had it removed January 2002 with a 50% chance of survival. The tumor was 2 inches in diameter and only option was to remove it before it enlarged my organs, for it had already altered my outward appearance outside of my jaws. On Dec. 11, 2002 I had upper and lower jaw surgery which included a bone graft to help support the upper jaw. I had the upper jaw lowered 5mm and brought forward 6mm. I had about 6mm cut off my lower jaw to help with the alignment of both jaws. My prior bite was so far off only 2 teeth in my entire mouth actually met. I had a serious under bite with a right shift. Totally unaligned. Thank God my vertical was okay. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery and learning that will power and lots of prayer is the only way to get through this. There are days I have serious anxiety attacks, especially in the food dept. I have had the opportunity to view quite a few pictures for this group and I must say I feel very fortunate to have had such a successful surgery. I didn't even spend 24 hours in the hospital. Surgery was at 8:15am, Dec. 11,2002. Lasted 6.5 hours. Was placed in a regular room around 3:00pm and discharged on Dec. 12, 2002 before 3:00pm. I was truly blessed with a great surgeon name Dr. Ellis, with UTSW in Dallas, Texas. He is awesome.
