Guest guest
I certainly fully intend to continue including moderate amounts of EFA's in my diet. Peat's claim of EFA toxicity strikes me as having an incredibly low level of plausibility. The burden of proof that he needs to shoulder on this issue is enormous. Are we really to believe in the toxicity of fatty acids that are found almost universally throughout nature and especially in many of the foods that have been staples of homo sapiens since before we became homo sapiens? Nuts, meats, green foods, seeds, insects, eggs are all foods that stretch throughout the timeline of hominid existence right up to the present day. How believable is it that multiple successive permutations of related species would consume, absorb, and incorporate into their tissues a class of toxic substances. It defies logic to such a degree that it undermines the believability of his non-essentiality claim.
Guest guest
As I said, just the messenger.;-) , I believe your very point on the availability of these fats is his point that these fats are found in small amounts in certain foods and the notion of supplementing them in fairly large amounts is a serious problem. Someone yesterday, I belive it was (who hopefully did some work today ) said that most people on this list are unlikely to be using excess efa's and the debate is reasonably unecessary as the debate is really as to supplement small amounts of efa's or not to supplement at all. It would appear to be nearly hair splitting. So I wouldn't sweat it.
