Guest guest
Pat, I'd be glad to tell you what I did. First I was on the vaginal cream (pre diflucan days) for 8 weeks. Then I was put on oral nystatin for months, I cant remember how many it may have been several years. I tried the " rainbow diet " but found that to be fairly useless. I did cut out sugar and if I had known then what I know now, I would have cut out wheat (I am celiac) I wore only cotton underpants and if I had to wear hosiery, I cut the crotch out. I boiled my underpants. Sleep without underpants. And after showering, bathing or swimming I used the blow dryer to dry off before putting underpants on. This may seem overly vaginal but that was sort of where I felt alot of this began and ran amok and when it got out of control, that is where I was the most uncomfortable. Of course this was 20 years ago back when doctors wouldn't even talk to you about candida. The only resource I had was a savior of an osteopath and the book The Yeast Connection. Then once diflucan came out, I think I took that for about 5 to 7 days. I believe that is what finally cleared it up, but that was years after I started. And, finally, I will not accept a prescription for antibiotics unless absolutely neccessary and then only if I am given a dose of diflucan with it. My allergist actually tests for candida on his skin test now. So if you haven't, you may want to check with your allergist to see what help they can offer you. Hope this is helpful, good luck English > > : > > You mentioned you had candida years ago and beat it. I know mine will improve if I am ever able to start thyroid, but in the meantime the symptoms are making the AF much worse. Do you remember specific things that helped? > > Thank's, > > Pat
Guest guest
I forgot to mention that some of the symptoms of Candida are the same as AF. Guest guest
Thank you, . I can see why you beat it - you pursued it with a vengeance. Yes, Dr. Crook was a pioneer when it comes to recognizing and treating yeast. I think the Nystatin and Diflucan will be valuable to me as the anti-candida diet will not cut it for me. I've pretty much been on it for several years already. I know the sinus and ear congestion are fungal- very difficult to get rid of. You're right, symptoms are similar to AF, and I don't always know which is which. Thank's for sharing your experience. Sincerely, Pat Re: what I did for Candida Pat, I'd be glad to tell you what I did. First I was on the vaginal cream (pre diflucan days) for 8 weeks. Guest guest
Pat, I would also like to add (because I just remembered) that I also took lots of Acidopholis and other probiotics to replenish the good flora that the Nystatin and Diflucan were removing. I also took some supplements but cant remember for the life of me what they were, probably in the Yeast Connection Book. Yeah, I did hit it with a vengeance. You know you have it bad when your GYN takes a swab and says " Oh my God, look at this " and shows it to you! It was so bad, he didn't know what it was and tested me for all kinds of horrible things like syphilis and gonorrhea. It really freaked me out! As for uncomfortable, there are no words. And that was just the GYN part! English > > Thank you, . I can see why you beat it - you pursued it with a vengeance. Yes, Dr. Crook was a pioneer when it comes to recognizing and treating yeast. Guest guest
I'm going to add more probiotics, etc. just to keep down the overgrowth. I'm sure I probably have " leaky gut syndrome " which has allowed more of the stuff into my bloodstream to travel to other organs. I'm wondering how many people have been misdiagnosed with different cancers (prostate, etc.) and other infections that were really yeast infested? It has been in our family a few generations, and at age 4l my mother (she's fine now except for yeast) was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My brother who was diagnosed with prostate cancer is OK now as well. I seriously doubt that they ever had cancer. Your doctor of 20 years ago may not have been as uninformed as some of today's doctors. Thank's so much, Pat Re: what I did for Candida Pat, I would also like to add (because I just remembered) that I also took lots of Acidopholis and other probiotics to replenish the good flora that the Nystatin and Diflucan were removing.
