Guest guest
I think I would wait with the DHEA until you get more info. HC changes the balance. I started slow on DHEA, ramped up to a high amount, went back down, stopped for a bit, then slowly back down on low doses (5 mg). I am still not sure if supplementation is the correct route since I feel too much of the DHEA supplement gets converted to estrogen in me so I am researching if there are other ways to increase DHEA in the body without supplementing directly. I know I need to keep cortisol and DHEA in balance but I am not sure DHEA supplementation is the best route for me because it seems to be converting to the wrong things. You can get thyroid tested while on HC. Only cortisol testing might be off from what I understand. Cheri DHEA I'm seeing the doctor in the morning. He didn't put me on DHEA when he started me on HC. Should I ask for him about it? My DHEA was 3 and the cortisol burden was 15. I'm also wondering when I should ask for my thyroid levels to be retested. Will taking the HC affect the levels, if so how long will it take? Or should Ijust wait until my temps are stabalized before checking htem again? Thanks a million! Cherie . When you get enough cortiosl your Free T3 will lower as you are utilising it where as with low cortios you do nto. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Each person responds differently, but in my experience, it has been important to supplement dhea along with the cortisol. When I started to take hydrocortisone by itself, although some of my symptoms were improving such as dizziness and hypoglycemia, I found myself sinking into a depression. When I added dhea into the mix, the depression lifted almost immediately. Given that there's decent evidence linking depression (among other things) to a high cortisol/dhea ratio, dhea should definitely be considered when taking hydrocortisone. Best of luck. > > >>I'm seeing the doctor in the morning. He didn't put me on DHEA when he > started me on HC. Should I ask for him about it? My DHEA was 3 and the > cortisol burden was 15. Guest guest
Anyone have good luck with ONLY DHEA having Adrenal Fatigue? Wondering if there's hope on only DHEA, or if I'll be heading for Cortef with it. THanks > > > > >>I'm seeing the doctor in the morning. He didn't put me on DHEA when he > > started me on HC. Guest guest
If cortisoll is low DHEA is not liekly to raise it. If ONLY DHEA is low then it would help. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
With your DHEA near normal at medrange I woul dnot rock the boat as you are doing well. But it would not hurt a bit to have DHEA retested to see if now you are on isocort oif the levels have changed. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I wish people could get blood levels of DHEA and DHEA sulfate because those are the results I am much more familiar with. Healthy levels of plasma DHEA and DHEA sulfate should be clearly over 250 for a female. As far as the saliva goes, I imagine since you are at the bottom end of the reference range that you are probably deficient and should raise your levels. I just got DHEA cream prescribed in individual vials by a compounding pharmacy and am using one a day (5 mgs.) I wanted to do small doses. My blood DHEA level is 38 and it's gonna take a while to get it up to 250.
