Guest guest
I htink it is a combo. Certainly life stresses do nto help but i doubt they are the sole cause of AF. I htink underlying it all is the level of toxins in everything we eat and drink. Cumulative damage especially when I see KIDS wiht low cortiosl now and 15-20 years ago this was not happening. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I've wondered the same thing and here is my very unprofessional opinion on my situation... I think a lot of it is genetics. As I've aged (36), I've noticed similarities in my experience and the females on my maternal side. While they never said AF and probably never heard of it, I suspect some of them have dealt with it. My mother never was diagnosed with a thyroid issue but I strongly suspect she had one. Both of her sisters did. I also believe that the chemical and toxins in our environment have contributed to the issue, causing a major imbalance. Finally, I know for a fact that having my 2nd child kicked things into high gear. I was pretty darn healthy until that little bugger was born. It quickly all went to he)) in a hand basket shortly after he was born. Gggrr!
Guest guest
Yep, I hear ya on having kids. Wouldn't trade them for the world, but they take a toll on our health systems. I think my simple thyroiditis after childbirth got blown out of porportion and led me into unecessary RAI treatment, and now Im left hypo this and hypo that. SOmetimes I wish we could plug our fingers into a machine and it would tell us what was wrong with us, like a car. Guest guest
I believe you're correct that cortisol resistance is genetic. Before I found this forum, I googled high cortisol and low cortisol, and came across a website that called it " Familial Cortisol Resistance " . I can see that, back into four generations - low temperature and other struggles but well thought of people, nonetheless. Now my own children say they have to struggle more than others. When I stand back and take a hard look, though, It's only a " different " struggle. I wouldn't want to trade places and experience the things I see happening to others BUT I would like to get out of this pit and maybe help others. Pat Re: determining my cause of AF?
