Hi, Cooky!

That is a good idea. Thanks for passing it along!

My RA seems to specialize in my metatarsal area. Before I was diagnosed, I

had two orthopedic surgeons convinced I had metatarsal stress fractures. I

did wear the boot for six weeks. Obviously, it did absolutely nothing to

help which had them puzzled to say the least. A couple of months on AP has

made a world of difference.

I suppose it didn't help that I had spent 5 years in a tropical environment

either barefoot or wearing sandals and pregnant. LOL The one thing that

DID help before I discovered AP was New Balance tennis shoes which my doc

insisted I wear all the time. : ( I finally rebelled and bought some

Birkenstock sandals for summer. Doc still preferred the NB shoes, but he

agreed the Birkenstocks were a good second choice.

Blessings!

Subject: rheumatic metatarsal area

Hi Gang,

I have been wearing thong sandals and other sandals and have developed pain

in the metatarsal area. It was so bad I could not put weight on the foot

unless I walked on the outside and that is bad for me since I walk 30

minutes a day. I just did not want to see a foot specialist and could not

figure out what my problem was. I also tried the metatarsal things you put

in your shoes with no difference, Two years ago I broke 2 small bones inthat

area and I remembered they did not think a cast in that area would work so

they had me in a boot that I hated. They also suggested I tape the area.

My whole reason for this note is that anybody with metatarsal problems could

use a wide tape and wrap it around the area for more support especially if

you want to wear sandals and dress shoes. So I did this and have not had a

problem.

Hope this helps somebody..

I cannot wear birkies. They have a cradle footbed and I have flat feet and I

guess feet that rebel against them by moving in the opposite direction when

walking. I don't know how to put it any better. It's like my foot doesn't

come down evenly. LOL Maybe you can try the new balance in the winter.

I wear sketchers and find that they offer a great deal of support for me and

they make me taller! But in the summer I like sandals and always have a

" get used to period " and sometimes it lasts a long time so I improvised.

I am so glad to hear AP has helped you. Hooray for antibiotics.

Glad you liked my idea.hope you never have to use it.
