Guest guest
Actually you might want to think back about 2 or more weeks and see what you did and who you were with before the UTI. cooky Subject: rheumatic medical records--causative organism Hey group! I just took the first step with my hospital to get access to my file for when I went to the ER almost six years ago with a UTI. It was one week after I was treated for this UTI that I started having joint problems. I don't know if it will be beneficial at all or not to see these records and try to find out the causative organism, but I figured it was worth a shot, right? Guest guest
Being that it was almost six years ago, I have no idea what I was doing two weeks before the UTI. And if you mean who I was " with " that would be my husband. Do you think knowing the bacteria will be helpful at all? Guest guest
Yes, it’s good to know what they have identified --- and realize it might not be all encompassing --- and isn’t it possible that something might have been picked up at the medical facility? Guest guest
Yes I do think it's a good thing to know the organism. I am thinking longer than 2 weeks. Did you have any surgeries? Were you in a wooded area where there could have been ticks? Swimming in water that could have been filled with bacteria. This is what I was referring to when I said who were you with..if you remember people you may remember where you were. Guest guest
Cooky, I had a bad kidney infection about two years before I became very sick and they said I had RA and dermatomyositis. I never made the connection until I went on AP and wrote down all the weird things that popped up about two or three years before I became very sick. I knew I had RA but never had an issue with it till I broke my heel in 1999 , then the other heel in 2001, then the kidney infection and then two years later two bladder infections right after the other. After that I just went to pieces,Had pneumonia, which was actually interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, plus I went downhill on weight so fast it scared my husband. Had a piece of my lung removed and was told if I make it to five years I would be okay. Now it is 6 years and my lungs are almost healed, have a good pulmonary function test and my recent blood work was close to normal. Seen my rheumy today (I fired her three years ago) but not for a test, her administrator is our choir director and I had to take some music to him. She was in the hallway when I walked in and she asked me how I was and I told her how good my report was, her statement was " looks like you are in remission " I know I am not there yet but close. I am making sure I am staying on my protocol and supplements. I read several other people got off it and became sick again. I want to go to Germany in September. I arranged a choir tour for our German singers and I want to go too. So I have to be well. I see Dr. K. in Lufkin, TX about every two or three months. I have been keeping records of all my doctor visits, blood work, hospital stays, surgeries and ct-scans, mammograms etc, I have a big folder with all the information by date.It helps when you have to see a doctor that wants to take more blood (Medicare doesn't like that). I never made the connection until I went on AP and wrote down all the weird things that popped up about two or three years before I became very sick. In this day you need to be your own physician and look for things doctors do not have time to look for. You are right …you need to ask for all results in writing and copies of your physicians comments. I did like you and still do it. I have a big folder also. I was one of the people you read that went off AP and am now having problems getting back in remission. As for putting symptoms with dates of possible infections sometimes you can’t pinpoint but it may help. I had 3 episodes where I could have gotten infected and all 3 have been in my mind for the last 14 years but at the time I did not even worry I could be infected. I did not even know about mycoplasmas and I am a nurse! I do know my symptoms started after an emotional upheaval. Eva I hope you get to Germany. It sounds like a great tour. I think if you keep up the AP you will have no problem. Hugs and blessings. cooky I knew I had RA but never had an issue with it till I broke my heel in 1999 , then the other heel in 2001, then the kidney infection and then two years later two bladder infections right after the other. Guest guest
I'm in Alabama, but I'm willing to travel if it means being healthy! I see Dr. Sentef in Chattanooga right now, but he's almost impossible to get an appointment with and he won't do IV's even though I've asked for them. Guest guest
LOL! No problem. I wasn't sure what kind of " who you were with " you meant, but because reactive arthritis (my probable diagnosis) can often be caused from a sexually transmitted disease, my mind went there. I will try hard to remember things that happened before the UTI. Thanks for your help! Guest guest
Causative organism of the UTI was e.coli. This doesn't seem to be bringing me any more knowledge when I search. I'm so confused. I've been on AP for over two years. Last year was a good year until October and now I'm just right back to where I started with the pain and swelling. It takes me a good three hours to loosen up in the mornings. I just don't get it! Guest guest
Beth, I'm sorry to hear of your plight. Our bodies are a system. The fact that 6 years ago your immune system was not functioning at its optimum and allowed e. coli to create an infection... It could mean that it was at that time that mycoplasma infection started, and just wasn't detected. I just had an experience in changing manufacturers of generic minocycline. I had been on a generic manufactured by Ranbaxy for almost 5 months and was doing REALLY well. My latest refill is brand. I started that in mid February. Over the past month I have noticed symptoms slowly returning. I didn't understand what was happening. Then I decided to go back to Ranbaxy. I took one on Monday and Tuesday the herx was BAD! That tells me that the brand was not effective for me. Again my dose on Wednesday caused more herx. While it is heck to go through, it does tell me I am doing the right thing. You might check the manufacturer of your minocycline and see if you are now on a different manufacturer of the antibiotic. That might explain your relapse. I hope it is something as simple as that. Please let us know. You can look at your prescription bottle and it will have the manufacturer on there. I don't know if your records at the pharmacy will detail the manufacturer...but you can check with them and see if you don't have your old bottles. Hope this helps. It is reports such as yours that strikes terror into our hearts, clouding out hope of a healthy life. Amy > > Causative organism of the UTI was e.coli.
