Hi All,

I just joined. I'm a 25 year old female with hashimoto's and

addison's. So long story short, all my life I've never really felt

tons of energy. ive always been tired even as a kid, anyway 5 years

ago things just went down hill, repeat infections, ears, nose, throat,

eyes everywhere, then i got mono from a friend and never really

recovered, i lost consciousness and at the hospital the doctors found

that i wasnt producing much cortisol. so they wanted to start me on

cortef. well i wanted to dig deeper so i tried many natural approaches

some worked for a little while then it was back down hill. then i

stumbled upon stop the thyroid madness and went to be tested and my

thyroid antibodies we over 10,000. but my free t3 , t4 etc were all in

optimal range, however as its been stated without enough cortisol the

body cant absorb thyroid hormone so although my levels were optimal,

they were just floating around in my blood, meanwhile my thyroid was

constantly inflamed and swollen under attack.

So then i found isocort and tried it for a month with zero result, i

felt no difference at all obviously because my adrenal insufficiency

was too severe. So finally i gave into cortef, which i felt a 360

better difference from the first dose, but i had a strong

belief that the organs can regenerate themselves so i didnt want to

take it and then my adrenals shut down. so i did the 3 day rotation

where i took a high dose on day 1 (30mg), medium dose on day two with

licorace (15 mg) and then no dose on day 3. I did this for 2 weeks,

then weaned off onto isocort because i prefer natural even though the

body doesnt know the difference. so i would do 10 mg cortef in the

morning and 5 (presumed) mg cortisol from isocort, then down to 5

cortef and 10 mg cortisol from isocort to the point where i was just

on isocort and definitely felt the difference unlike the first time i

tried it when my adrenals were too severe to respond to isocort.

So now I've been on isocort exclusively (weened off cortef) for a few

weeks and each week seem to

have to wein down because i wont be able to sleep or will be over

energized well into 2 am which is not good for the adrenals.

for example when i weened to isocort, i needed the 20 mg a day to feel

normal, the next week 20 mg seemed to much, so i went down to 15 which

felt fine then the next week 15 felt like to much, so now i am on 10

mg for a week and think i need to ween down to five.

so my question is:

1. should i still start Armour? I have hashi's but my levels are in

optimal range and now that my adrenals seem to be working better i can

definitely feel the thyroid dump each day and

2. should i stay on isocort? and for how long?

i have hashi's and addison's but am feeling great with no armour and

down to 10 mg isocort a day?

when at first 25 mg isocort didnt even do anything for me. Do the

adrenals heal that fast? the doctor said 90% of my cortex was

destroyed? So why do i feel as if my adrenals have healed? im

confused? It's been 8 weeks total, seems to fast a recovery from a

life time of misery so im not sure what to do?

Any help would be great.
