Hi all,

I would love to get in touch with anyone who had their first symptoms

or flare of RA and was diagnosed soon after pregnancy. I am

interested in Antibiotic Therapy, but have yet to run across a case

where the RA was triggered by Pregnancy and then they had success with

Antibiotics.

I can't wait to hear from you!

Hello Carey,

I got my first major symptom 4 months after the birth of my first child,

almost 27 years ago. During my following 2 pregnancies I had my only times

of true remission - I felt totally well. I have been diagnosed as having RA

and later 2 different Drs diagnosed AS, and a 4th (Dr Franco) didn't say

too much about which but inplied RA. I seem to have something inbetween the

2!

I was on antibiotics for 10 years starting in '97 and was definately helped

tho not cured. Instead of gradually getting steadily worse I started

getting steadily better and less fatigued. I have since gone off of wheat,

potatoes, & corn and been helped by that change in diet tho not cured. I was

off ALL starch except beans for the first year of the diet - '07. I think I

would have done better to eliminate beans as well and have since done that,

but do eat some rice and sweet potatoes. I also do better w/o sugar tho I

have a hard time eliminating everything for a long period of time! I have

had some more damage to my hands recently and am thinking of adding

antibiotics or LDN back, and/or going off of all starch including beans. I

only take a anti inflamitory every few days now intead of having to take 2

/day, like I used to - my overall inflamation level is much lower than it

used to be, and the overall feeling of fatigue -weighted down w/ no

energy- is usually very low or gone.

Ask me any more questions if you want.

Hi Cari!

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I am

so happy to read about someone's experience that is similar to my own.

My first major symptoms occured about 6 months after the birth of my

1st child. I have been on Plaquenil and mobic, but have since dropped

the mobic and now take 2.5 mg of prednisone daily. I am currently

pregnant with my 2nd child (10 weeks) and feeling slightly better. I

do NOT want to go on Methotrexate or the other heavy hitter drugs. I

plan to try AP once I am done breastfeeding or perhaps once I get my

flare after birth...whichever comes first.

I do have some questions if you don't mind:

-What joints were first affected...what are your worst? Mine began in

my right elbow and neck and then progressed over the course of 5

months to both knees and my ankles and I have some initial pain in my

right wrist and fingers.

-Do you have the RheumatoidFactor? I am sero negative and I also

tested negative for the HLA-b27

-How far apart were your pregnancies? Did you do treatment inbetween?

If so, what?

-Did your symptoms become incrementally worse after each pregnancy?

Did it attack the same joints or move on to different joints after

giving birth?

-After pregnancies 2 & 3 how long did it take you to flare?

-After the 10 years of AP, why did you stop? You've been off of it

for 3 years and just managing on anti-inflammatories?

-How long did it take for the AP to start working? Did you Herx?

-What does it mean for you to be feeling good? How active are you able to be?

-How long did it take for you to notice a difference when on the diet?

I did gluten free for 2 months in the winter, but then i got pregnant

and just need to eat what I can stomach, so haven't been strict about

it. I didn't notice a huge difference though. Is this something a Dr.

recommended or something you read about and self prescribed? I've

read a lot about dietary changes for inflammation.

-do you have lower back pain? Mine has just recently started to hurt

( in the past 2 weeks) and I wonder if it's associated with my RA

That's a lot of questions! I am sure I have more too:) I so

appreciate your willingness to communicate with me. It's very helpful!

I look forward to hearing from you. Good night,

carey

My grandma's half sister developed a very sever rheumatide arthritise after

giving birth to her last child. She was under stress during her pregrancy and

giving birth due to the some family problem. She is still alive and suffering (I

guess for more than 30 years). I don't know what medications she has taken. I

heard it from my mum.

I have heard of many cases of rheumatide arthritise after giving birth.
