Guest guest
Not supposed to exercies much? Really?! I'm new to all of this but haven't come across that before. Hmmm...you can count me out of that. I really enjoy my workouts and how I feel after. Anyway, my experience was that I lost about 5 lbs. after starting Synthroid but have since gained that and more. Sorry,...I know that's certainly not what you want to hear but keep in mind that there are so many different reasons why people lose or gain weight. We gain weight from the hypoT but that combined w/ other issues like aging and slowing metabolism, poor eating, no exercise can make it worse. Additionally, habits might also change when starting a thyroid med. We might clean up our act or vice versa. I guess I just say all of this to say that everyone's experience is different and we have different reasons for why we gain or lose weight, other than our shared thryoid issue. Guest guest
I guess there is never an easy way to lose weight! i'm hoping that the armour and increase in my energy level will help me to start some exercise. This issue with exercise is that if you do intense cardiovascular exercise, you are adding further stress on your adrenals so the idea is to do moderate exercise, like walking etc. But if you're doing regular routines and not feeling totally wiped out, then you are probably fine! I am still hopeful that my metabolism will increase some with armour! thanks for your feedback, Liz > > Not supposed to exercies much? Really?! Guest guest
Hi again. I realized I just mentioned the synthetic stuff in my last post. I just started Armour last week so who knows?! Maybe I'll see a weight change as well. I'm trying to eat better and exercise more so maybe the combo will help. So far, all is well w/ the Armour except for a moderately upset stomach. Good luck to you!!
Guest guest
Everyone is different so it is hard to say, but with my experience I have not been able to lose anything. I've been on Armour for years and on HC for almost a year. I even was walking 6 miles a day almost everyday and still no weight loss. This has been a big argument with my doctor and him not helping much. We shall see what my labs say when they come back. Guest guest
I also recently started being gluten and dairy free so hopefully that will help my adrenals/body stress levels and help with weight loss. I'm on day 2 of Armour and i'm taking it sublingually so that I don't have to worry about not taking it close to when I take my iron. Also, it bypasses the GI system so no digestive problems and also don't have to worry about absorption. Just put it under your tongue and let it slowly dissolve...there's no taste at all. good luck to you too! Liz > > Hi again. I realized I just mentioned the synthetic stuff in my last > post. Guest guest
It seems like there must be something else going on that you and the doc need to figure out. If you're doing all that and still not losing weight then your body is still fighting something. Is your blood sugar ok? Food sensitivities? Candida? If I don't lose any weight after my dietary changes plus thyroid meds after a couple months, my guess is for me it would be candida, or some unknown food sensitivity. hope you can figure out what's going on! Guest guest
Oh don't I know this. I have a previous post regarding my dr's visit. This was a BIG argument that I am having w/the dr. that something else HAS to be going on. He is a total TSH tester and that is it. I need to beg and cry for the other tests. He gives me Armour and that is it. I actually went to a different dr. for the HC. Dana G > > It seems like there must be something else going on that you and the > doc need to figure out. Guest guest
Dana, do you know what your FT3 is? Or fasting glucose? FT3 if too low, will keep your metabolism low and keep the weight on. You could also be insulin resistant without being diabetic, which also leads to inability to lose weight. So how do you fix insulin resistance? You go on a diabetes type diet, which is HIGH fat, medium protein, and medium fiber-rich carbs like veggies. Everyone knows about cutting white flour carbs, potatoes, rice, breads, etc., but what I find is that most cannot truly let themselves eat fat. Our media has everyone so brainwashed that fat is bad, when in reality, a low-fat, high-grain diet is the fastest way to pack on the pounds. How do you think they fatten livestock? By feeding them corn! Barb " mad4mstfs " wrote: > > Oh don't I know this. I have a previous post regarding my dr's > visit. Guest guest
Have you addressed detoxing at all? Our bodies store toxins in fat to protect us and it makes it really hard to get rid of. Guest guest
My lab work should be coming back soon. When I get it, I will certainly post the results. Very interesting about insulin resistant. Since my hubby is a diabetic, I think I will join him eating the diabetic way and see how it goes. Thanks for the info ... One caution . . . if he is following the American Diabetes Diet, that is about the worst diet to follow if you're diabetic. Check out The Diabetes Diet by Bernstein, or any of the other books he's written. http://tinyurl.com/2t2l8l He will turn what you believe about food upside down! Guest guest
I will not give up until I lose the 17 lbs that I gained in 6 weeks before being diagiasnosed hyopthyroid & the 40 lbs that I have gained since then while on Armour or Cynomal. I sure hope that it happens soon so I can get back to living. Gale > > I was wondering what to expect as far as weight loss after going on > armour for hypoT? Guest guest
I've dropped 15 pounds in 10 weeks. I started on Armour in August and then Isocort in September and HC in November. I believe that getting up to a decent dose of HC combined with the Armour. I have also gone gluten free in my diet over the past 4 weeks which might be a significant factor. > > I was wondering what to expect as far as weight loss after going on > armour for hypoT? Guest guest
I am sooo with you on this! I gained 9-10 very quickly and was diagnosed. I continued to gain for a bit and got up to 16+ lbs. I'm working my butt off now at the gym though, started Armour and a few other things. I've managed to lose 2 lbs. in a week. Not much but a start. Keep it comin' baby!! Guest guest
Interesting...can you explain why the gluten free might make a difference? It's been suggested that I eliminate dairy and soy due to an " intolerance " that was found in my saliva testing but that was about it.
