Guest guest
Well, I can tell you the first three weeks on I was on Isocort I had all kinds of weird things happen and it took about 6 weeks of slowly ramping before things settled and I didn't have weird reactions. So, it might be something as simple as your cells opening up more with a little cortisol and you need to stick with it and see how you do over a few weeks. I always give something at least a month unless it is so intolerable. I had some bad symptoms for several days, then a few weeks more mild. Eventually it all settled and the worst thing was increased fatigue. However, at 35 mg I am feeling much better. Not sure what you should do but I definitely do not think it is " too much " but more your body trying to adapt to something new. If you think you are allergic to the Isocort, you could always try small doses of HC cream instead. Cheri -----Original Message----- I tried the first dose of Isocort, felt relaxed and slow, but better than that hyper feeling even on a low does of thyroxine I have been experiencing. The next day, I took the one morning dose of Isocort and felt anxious all day. So, I stopped. After a week, I tried the Isocort again. Felt good, same as the first time I tried it. But about 8 hours later, I became suddenly dizzy, and had heavy confusion and super anxiety, not the same sort of anxiety, but more in my head-feeling, like there was some biochemical chaos going on. Usually, if it is typcial anxiety, an ativan will relieve it. In the past, when I was hyper from thyroid meds, but just thought I was anxious due to undermedicaiton, I would take an ativan, and found that the anxiety did not dissipate. In this situation, the anxiety did not dissipate, so there is definately something going on here with the Isocort I took. What is happening? Is it the fact that the cortisol was happily accepted by my body, then rejected after a while because it is too much for me? Or is it that the cortisol has been expended and I am in some sort of physical panic mode becasue my body really expects the cortisol to be present and available, but it is not there??? Please help. I need to treat the weak adrenals in order to tolerate my thyroi meds. I am in the midst of a quick downward spiral as I can't take my old thyroid dose and am more hypo than ever. I presume I have taxed my adrenals trying to optimize my thyroid meds, and now am in serious trouble. .
Guest guest
This si typical in starting out. You lowered your ACTH a tiny bit and ran out of cortiosl. Isocort or HC BOTH last only 4 hours max. You simply needed another dose. <<After a week, I tried the Isocort again. Felt good, same as the first time I tried it. Guest guest
Thanks Val: It is hard for me to distingush what is going on sometimes! Well, i think I have proved it to myself that the cortisol is what my body needs, now on these three occasions. However, I have an endo appointment on the 22nd of Jan. I am hoping she will give me a ACTH stim test some other adrenal insufficiency tests, so, my initial plan was to keep off the Isocort until then. I had to test it again yesterday, since I have been feeling sooo bad and nearly collapsed the other afternoon in sudden fatigue. I am getting worse, especially after being hyper on 45mg of Armour. It has been a steady slide for the last month of my body rejecting my thyroid meds at any level. What should I do? I really think self medicatin on the isocort would be a good idea, yet, I don't want to interefere with any diagnosis. I also have other low hormones including DHEA and the reproductive hormones. So, maybe there is a pituitary issue and I don't know if supplementing with the Isocort will affect these as well. Bottom line: will the Isocort possibly alter the test results stemming from my upcoming endo apptment??????? > > This si typical in starting out. If planning on ACTH Stim testing you MUST stay off the Isocort. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Ok. Will do. Will the three occasions (once on Christmas, day after Christmas and yesterday) be enough to affect my test results? I might add that I am on 25 mg Seroquel (lowest I can go at this time) which apparently lowers cortisol. I recently tried Buspar for one day at the request of my psych. I went bonkers! Actually it felt like yesterday after my Isocort. I since found out that Buspar raises cortisol - well I guess my adrenals had none to give and something went haywire in my body. Point being - I have been on meds that lower and raise cortisol in additon to the three does of isocort. I will never have a " clean slate " from whcih to test from, but c'est la vie. Hope it all works out for me on the 22nd Thanks Val, so much !!!! I feel so alone in this period. > > >>Bottom line: will the Isocort possibly alter the test results stemming > from my upcoming endo apptment??????? << > > Absolutely WILL afftect the t4est results.
