Guest guest
I used to use about the double quantity of sugar as in NT; the kombucha was done in half-time, was more fizzly, and the mushroom grew more quickly. Also, if I caught it fast enough, it was sweet enough that the children would drink it. Does this make sense, or is it less healthy to do it this way? Thanks, son
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I purchased my first bottle of commercially made kombucha tea, but I've already recycled the bottle so I don't remember which brand it was. The directions were to consume 3-4 oz. up to three times a day. I enjoyed the flavor, and do feel pretty good this week, but I wouldn't venture to say that the tea is the cause. I would be interested in making my own, but wanted to make sure I enjoyed the taste before I learn how to do it at home. I'll let you know the brand next time I go to Whole Foods. Guest guest
Hello Sheila, Start with a few oz. per day for a week then bump it up to 4, then 6. I've had skin break-out when downing 12+ oz. per day. (It's tasty stuff) You're supposed to drink lots of water afterwards to help with the detox. >From everything I've read, commercial stuff is pretty much dead (pasteurized) and doesn't have the same qualities as homemade. making your own is easy & fun. I got a starter kit ($20) from: http://www.happyherbalist.com/premium_organic.htm Includes organic tea & sugar - all you need is a big gallon jar (wide mouth) it's an easy way to get started.
