Does anti-CCP determine if a patient has rheumatoid arthritis? Anti-CCP is a very useful test to order during the diagnostic <http://arthritis.about.com/od/radiagnosis/> evaluation of a person who may have rheumatoid arthritis. If present in such a patient at a moderate to high level, it not only confirms the diagnosis but also may indicate that the patient is at increased risk for damage to the joints. What is <http://arthritis.about.com/od/radiagnosis/a/rheumfactor.htm> Rheumatoid Factor? What does anti-CCP indicate? While the rheumatoid factor is more common in rheumatoid arthritis patients, many patients with a positive test do not have rheumatoid arthritis. Furthermore, the presence of the rheumatoid factor has less prognostic significance than the CCP. Of interest is that if your rheumatoid factor is negative, you are less likely to have a positive CCP. Both blood tests are recommended in the initial evaluation of a patient with suspected rheumatoid arthritis.

Guest guest
Greetings to Kieth,  please , please consider my story before you make a decision about what therapy to persue.  Here is 's story; In 2007 I was diagnosed with RA, and over the next 3 years was on:  enbrel,  methotrexate, prednisone, plaquenil, humira,  orencia, remicade, and gold salts (and probably a few more I have forgotten).  I got no relief from these toxic chemical soups, but did get diabetes (from prednisone), had convulsions (from remicade) and both liver and kidney damage from which ones they don't know!  The last straw was the gold injections...on the 4th injection I passed out and came to with oxygen.  The doc said " I thought you were a gonner, you were a non-responsive zombie " .  After that I decided there had to be some other way,  and on my next visit to the rheumy (he wanted to put me on  I asked 2 questions; 1. Do you know with certainty what causes rheumatoid arthritis?  After a long pause he answered " No " .  The second question was: IF you don't know what you are chasing, why are you willing to pump me full of these chemical soups?  The answer was " mumbo jumbo about the accepted protocol of the professional rheumatolosists, etc. etc. That was my last appointment with him.    One of my daughters had been researching the internet and stumbled upon the antibiotic protocol and I decided to give it a try.  In Sep of 2009 I started with 200mg of minocycline and experienced Herxheimer reaction in Feb and Mar 2010.  AND IN APRIL 2010 I WAS IN REMISSION...........YES REMISSION........I could now turn doorknobs, open lids on jars, climb stairs, and begin living life AGAIN.      If I had to do it all over again, with the minimal side effects that minocycline carries, I would START with it, not with all those chemical soups.      Wishing all of you the best............if you have questions gimme a call......frank feczko 614 795 3670 From: DEBBIE GIBSON <Debbullwinkle@...> Subject: Re: rheumatic Doctors NYC Area rheumatic Date: Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 12:51 PM  , my long time physician, a rheum, Dr. Hendriks Whitman is in New Jersey, very close to you I believe...he is with Summit Medical Group, you can look them up online..he is well versed in the ABX treatment and I am sure could answer some of your questions...Hope this helps, Debbie G in Cincinnati rheumatic new test OK I googled anti CCP. Guide <http://arthritis.about.com/od/rheumatoidarthritis/a/rheumatoidguide.htm> To Rheumatoid Arthritis When is it appropriate to have this test? Does anti-CCP determine if a patient has rheumatoid arthritis? Anti-CCP is a very useful test to order during the diagnostic <http://arthritis.about.com/od/radiagnosis/> evaluation of a person who may have rheumatoid arthritis. If present in such a patient at a moderate to high level, it not only confirms the diagnosis but also may indicate that the patient is at increased risk for damage to the joints. (Low levels of this antibody are less significant.) In the past, doctors relied on another antibody, the rheumatoid <http://arthritis.about.com/od/radiagnosis/a/rheumfactor.htm> factor (RF) to help confirm a diagnosis. ..
