Guest guest
In my experience, doctors are not willing to test, because they do now know how to read the results. Unfortunately, the testing you describe is not taught to doctors in medical school. The doctors who understand these tests all pursued education on their own, outside of medical school. What I did, was to learn how to get myself tested without a doctor, and how to understand the results. Because my test results were bad (horrible, actually), I began reading books on treatments. At this time, my regular doctors were marginally aware that I had a problem, but only based on minimal testing of thyroid (not full testing), and did not include adrenals. They had no idea of how bad things were until I showed them the tests that I had taken on my own. The only point of this, is that you do not need a doctor to get tested. You can order your own tests, and it's actually cheaper to do this without a doctor (because you do not pay a doctor's fee). Once you get the results, and understand how to read them, you can decide how much you want to pursue a doctor who understands the hypothalamic pituitary axis. To learn how to get the testing, I recommend joining the group stopthethyroidmadness. (no spaces between the words). The purpose of joining the group is 1) to learn how to get the best testing at lowest price. 2) to learn how to read the tests 3) to find reliable doctors in your area This group may provide discussion that you are not interested in. However, this group is the easiest place to learn out those three things. The testing includes thyroid, adrenals and sex hormones. If after testing you wish to pursue education about the sex hormones, there is another group I would suggest. Guest guest
Thank you, actually I go to the " stop the thyroid madness " website, didnt know there was an email list, also on a natural hormone list, and I got the list of what to test for from the compounding pharmacy I use. I have to go in to the DR once in awhile or she wont sign my prescriptions! Kathy
