Guest guest
UGH so sorry you had such a horrid experience. I DO understand this frustration and the wanting to give up, it is EXACTLY why I became informed and started my OWN medical research to help myself. My doctors just shrugged and told me my thyroid was normal. While I was DYING of low thyroid. Sometimes you have to think outside their little boxes and for that you need to either go it alone or find a really exceptionally bold doctor that isn't afraid to do just this. I gave up trying to find one so I self treat. It has probably been slower for me this way, the healing process than if I had a GOOD doctor to work with, but look at all I have learned on the way.. Almost a good trade off! -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

I think it is both interesting and a bit amusing that both of our doctors sort of acquiesced when we got teary. Maybe that is the trick with these guys. Burst into tears and get the tests you want because they can't handle a crying woman. Their achilles heel revealed! English
Guest guest
Ha my trouble is the tears are just the beginning.. Then comes the rage that they made me cry! Yes I have called my doctors everything but doctor on occasion, and even been escorted out of their office once. Guest guest
You know Val, I have been dealing with this for quite some time and always hoped my Dr would come around and listen to me. Yea right. I have come to realize that if I am going to get better, I need to do what you did .. start helping myself. I was going to tell him that I was on HC but decided not to. Glad I did! I forgot to mention that one of the other tests I asked for was DHEA. He told me there was no need. In the end, I did get want I wanted (or partially). I think from now on, I'll just go in and let him do the TSH and that is it. I'll handle the rest. At least he gives me Armour! Thanks for letting me rant .... I'm sure the Dr will give him an ear full next week when he goes in. I just don't care anymore. I WANT to lose weight and my hair to stop falling out. Guest guest
As long as you get your test results, even when they come back so called " NORMAL " you can treat yourself with our help. sandra I HATE Dr's! My appointment today just really makes me want to give up .. really! I had my endo appointment today. I went in the the list of tests I wanted. Immedately he takes an attitude and tells me " you just don't randomly test things " and then tells me many of the items on my list were not needed. He also told me ... are you ready .. that there was no such thing as a RT3 test .. WHAT?? I told him oh yes there is. I just about cried sitting there. I think that is what made him do the tests. Then he said .. oh look, there is a test for RT3. I kept telling him, that nothing has changed with me from when I first starting going to him. why? he couldn't answer. I then asked him, my hair is still falling out, I'm not losing any weight even though I had been walking 6 miles almost everyday for a year .. why? no answer. I told him it is obviouse that we are missing something. When I was leaving, he told me I would have the results in a week and he would mail them to me. He then said " what are we suppose to do when they all come back abnormal " I said " well then we will need to fix it " . I just want to hit my head against the wall. The one I suually see did not want to put me on insuln and OD'd me on Metformin starting me out on 1500mg a day and I ended up in the ER needing 2 liters of fluid from the horrid diarrhea it gave me. Guest guest
This is a great post! I wished I was as brave as you Val....truly. But I have to say, as narrow as my current doctor CAN BE -- he was quite open minded today when he saw my labs and my lingering symptoms. Told me to take what I needed in terms of Armour -- but to be mindful to SLOWLY build and watch for adrenals. PROGRESS! I feel like I won the lottery! > > UGH so sorry you had such a horrid experience. Guest guest
Me too!!! I just want my hair back, and well maybe fingernails too..and to lose weight and have some energy without pushing myself beyond the limits.. My Endro's idea for hair loss...this ONLY after I whipped out my little baggie full of ONE day's hair loss - JUST what was on the brush, not the floor, counter, sink and clothes... His idea - double my estrodial....so after a couple of weeks I cut it to only a half of a pill increase, so far I'm not noticing a huge difference - but with hair - it can take up to 6 months before your body will react. Have you had your hormones tested??? And I guess estrogen testing is kinda like the tsh test - the higher the number the more need for estrogen/estrodial.. SeaLady Can you just believe it. My hubby uses him also for his diabetes. I'm sure the Dr will give him an ear full next week when he goes in. I just don't care anymore. I WANT to lose weight and my hair to stop falling out. If he can't give me answers, then listen to ME!!!
