Coconut Oil and High Cholesterol

I just read from a site that coconut oil may be linked to high cholesterol for

people with O blood type.

I guess I believe Dr Barry Sears ( " The Anti Inflammation Zone " and " The Omega Rx

Zone, The Miracle of the New High-Dose Fish Oil " ). Dr Sears says total

cholesterol is NOT what is important. It is your tryglycerides (TG) to HDL

ratio that is important. He says if your TG/HDL ratio is less than 2, you have

the mostly harmless LDL particles. I increased my HDL from low 60s to 85 (last

Mar) by taking acetyl l carnitine (1,000mg daily) and taking cod liver oil (now

use krill oil instead) lowered my TG to 56. I actually stopped fish oil for a

few months because my ratio was so low. My total cholesterol was 242. My

internal medicine ( very main stream medicine) was familiar with Dr Sear's books

and agreed with his statements. She said she had never seen anyone get into

trouble with my numbers.

I think coconut oil has so many benefits!!! I love what it does for my skin

both from eating it and from using it on my face at night. I read (in a book)

about a man who married a woman from the ines. The woman cooked

separately for herself (with coconut oil) and her husband (did not like coconut

oil). Their ages were similar but the woman looked many years younger than her

husband with such wrinkle-free glowing skin.

Just my opinion but I LOVE coconut oil and am O positive.

I have been using the oil for years and my cholesterol/HDL ratio always

comes back 2.22 - which is not even on the chart they provide - the lowest

risk factor given is 3.33 - so with using the oil mine comes back very low.

Don't know if that is the exact same ratio test that you mentioned - my

Triglyceride is 55.

Unfortunately most people when you mention coconut oil to them think it is a

bad fat and think of the refined oil - not the oil the Philippines grew up

using.

I also use it from head to toe on my skin and rub in and around my scalp.

Dr. Bruce Fife as written several books on the miracles of using coconut

oil.
