Guest guest
Well, scope is done. Sigh. Good news & bad news. It's not anything horrible, apparently. But it wouldn't matter what Rx or home remedies I tried, what I put in my face isn't gonna fix it. Had to stop before they were done, because bowel is nicely curliqued with adhesions. I guess smart to do this now before they kink up and become obstructions. So, I can't tell how much money I've spent on things to try. Now I now the PhosphoSoda will do the trick! LOL! Boy, is THAT the hard way. Anyway, I do not have the follow up til 8/29, so was trying to grab as much as I could while on drugs this morning. So, no details other than the fact that it isn't what I eat or drink or do not. It's just not in a straight line any more. Guest guest
Maggie, Try Kondrumel. It is recommended by Max's GI and available over the counter. You can put that down her tube, too. Guest guest
Maggie, I'll pray for your cousin's family... My mom just had terrible constipation after back surgery which was really stubborn ,and a trick my sister who's has done nursing in an nursing home solved it: she mixed prune juice, All Bran Cereal, and anpplesauce in a paste and ate it. Maybe a blender would help it go through a tube, if not too thick? Inga At 10:27 PM 9/12/2001 -0400, you wrote: > > Maggie, > > Try Kondrumel. Guest guest
My son Tylor was put on senna laxative tablets that really helped with the constipation towards the end of his life. They seem to be the one thing that really helped. My suggestion is alternate it with the carnitor(if your child is on that). Hopefully, you will notice a difference. Hope this helps, Alisen- mom to Tylor 12/13/95-6/25/02 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I was just wondering if constipation is a bad sign for people with UC. I tend to not worry about it as much since I have a deadly fear now of D, but I didn't have a BM for two days. When I did, the log was harder than usual but not like hard little clumps. (sorry for the detail) Also, have you had BMs where the first time something comes out its a good consistency, but then a few seconds later some really loose stuff comes out? Like mashed potatoes? (sorry again) I just wanted to know if I should be concerned about these symptoms and rethink what I have added into my diet. (at this point cheese)THanks!Alyssa

Guest guest
Alyssa, I am so impressed with you being 15 and taking matters into your own hands diet wise. How fantastic!! I just wanted to let you know that as my BM's have gotten better I too have the good begining of a BM and then becomes mash like consistency. I think many of us experience this as healing takes place. Are you taking probiotics or eating yogurt? Make sure the cheese you are eating is very aged- cheese can be a little difficult for some of us. Maybe you should eat every couple of days? Are you eating it every day? If you get bad C you can do the prune stew followed by hot coffee. That can help " loosen " things up- but don't do much if you are worried of D. Guest guest
Jodi,Thanks for your comment =) I guess I'm just strongly opposed to meds and want to do everything I can to avoid them! I ordered a yogurt maker off of amazon a few days ago, so it should be here soon.I was planning on trying goat yogurt first, since it's supposed to be better for digestion. I was taking probiotics, but they have potato starch in them, unfortunately. I may still take them though because I'm not 100% SCD yet. I still eat Trader Joes Sunbutter which has some sugar in it. =( I was having tiny amounts of cheese every day on my sandwiches, but I think when I start the yogurt I will cut back some. I bought two kinds made from raw cows milk, and I think they were both aged at least 6 months. Still though, I am concerned about the casein and might switch to all goat dairy for now.Good news though: My mom said that she even gets BMs where its more solid at the beginning than the end, and she has no history of intestinal problems =)AlyssaAlyssa,I am so impressed with you being 15 and taking matters into your own hands diet wise. (sorry for the > detail) Have you recently added yogurt? Even without yogurt, if your normal consistency has been soft or unformed BMs, then the fact that you didn't go for two days means you probably had some die-off, some change in your bowel ecology, which is a good sign. > Also, have you had BMs where the first time something comes out its a > good consistency, but then a few seconds later some really loose stuff > comes out? Like mashed potatoes? (sorry again) No, that's perfectly normal for UC. The first BM(s) of the days can be solid and then they get loser. That just means you have active disease, which you already knew. > I just wanted to know if I should be concerned about these symptoms > and rethink what I have added into my diet. (at this point cheese) Cheese might be creating excess mucous, so be aware of that. Mara
