cholesterol labs

Again, I am the mystery weirdo of the Hypo bunch here. I just got new lab

results from a doc's visit over one week ago. What do you guys make of these

cholesterol levels? I don't think these go along with a hypoT person, but I

have read extensively they go along with depression and anxiety disorder...

Total cholesterol- 120

LDL- 81 (one point over the lowest end of reference range)

Triglycerides 54 (a couple of points over lowest end of reference range)

HDL- 32 (this is low, but is it really when you look at the total picture?

It's the ratios that matter.

Here's what I am thinking:

I must have an abnormality in my liver that:

A: Isn't producing enough cholesterol for health

B: Isn't converting T4-T3 adequately

C: is causing a T3 PLUS serotonin deficit in my brain which all started with

seasonal effective disorder once October came.

Val, I am NOT clear cut case. Hypo goes with HIGH cholesterol. I've got much

more complex issues and I believe I need some timed release T3 plus an SSRI in

order to come out of this.

My biggest symptoms are major depression and anxiety disorder to the point that

I have become agorophobic ever since the clocks changed and there was cold and

lack of light.

Dr. Arem discusses quite a bit of this in his book. I'd fit a 's thyroid

syndrome person better than a hypoT person, but according to Arem, those are all

symptoms of depression as well. Which came first? Low T3 causing depression or

depression and seasonal affective disorder causing low serotonin and low T3 in

my brain?

Dr. Blanchard received a letter I wrote him and called me yesterday morning. He

said he's going to get me in as soon as possible even though his secretary had

told me the week before that it would take about 3 months. I said to heck with

that and sent him a melodramatic letter since I'm good with the melodramatics.

It worked as he called me as soon as he got it. I am interested in getting

timed release T3 from him (which he prescribes) because Cytomel and I aren't

agreeing too well (major headache) and too wired up in the brain. Once I get

the timed release T3, I'm going to see how it goes and then consider adding in

some lexapro. Then, next September I'm starting light therapy with a light box

as to not ever have to go through this nightmare of winter blues again.
