Guest guest
I've been lurking on this group for about 2 weeks now. I though it was high time I introduced myself and asked a couple of questions. I'm 31 years old and have been married for 6 (almost 7) years. We have a beautiful 14 month old boy who we conceived after 3 years of infertility treatments. I've had symptoms of hypothyroid/adrenal fatigue for about 10-15 years, but things just kept getting worse and worse after having my son. I'm now on anti-depressants and cannot lose weight. I hardly gained any while pregnant, and lost what I DID gain by my 6 week appointment. Since then I've put on about 40 pounds, and was overweight to begin with. I originally found STTM because I was convinced that I was hypothyroid, even though for the past 10 years or so I was told that I was " normal " due to TSH tests. I recently did a saliva test and found that while my TSH is within " normal " limits, my frees are a little low. I also found out that my adrenals are shot: 7:00 - 8:00 am 11 (13-24) 11:00 - noon 4 (5-10) 4:00 - 5:00 2 (3-8) 11:00 - midnight 4 (1-4) Cortisol burden 21 (23-42) DHEA 3 (3-10) After a lot of consideration I think I'm going the self-treatment route. None of my doctors will treat me and the only doctor that might is about an hour away and doesn't take insurance. I can't afford that. Now, I thought I read somewhere that Cortef is in Category C, meaning you shouldn't take it while pregnant? DH and I have been discussing trying for #2 and I'm not sure what to do about this. I need to get my adrenals healed as I feel lousy, but what should I do if I happen to get pregnant? Also, to anyone who might be self-treating, how do you go about this when you DO have to visit a doctor for something? They always ask what medications you're on. I guess I ask this because if/when I do get pregnant again I'm not sure how to go about that with my ob. Thanks for reading through my long and rambling post. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!
