Guest guest
Thank you all for the condolences. To preserve & protect my emotional state, We are taking a much needed vacation. It happens to coincide with mine & Mike's 35th wedding anniversary. We are leaving on thursday to visit my daughter on the Island of St. , do some snorkeling, hiking to the waterfalls and having some nice easy dinners at sunset. On Halloween night there are huge festivities and we plan to enjoy them. Then on Monday, my daughter goes back to work and we will take the ferry to one or more of the BVI's. (those are the British Virgin Islands.) I am excited to get back my groove. Spent two years confined taking care of Mom. I don't regret it at all, but I am rejoicing that she is no longer uncomfortable and rejoicing that Mike and I are free again to travel and enjoy life. There is a down side and an upside to everything. We are on our way up again! A few words of wisdom learned from the situation: When everything gets gloomy and seems like there is no end, do not let it drag you down emotionally. That only prolongs the discomfort. Learn from the events happening at hand and when you have digested the concept, you will rise above once again. Here is what I learned.......To have patience with older and sick people, because one day I may be in their shoes. If I was kind, someone will be kind to me. If they are not, don't be disappointed. It is a lesson that needs to be taught and learned and will take time. Guest guest
Dolores, I hear you words of wisdom and I so agree with you. My husband had a " grumpy " aunt and I and my family never really got to know her well because she was such a crab. She was a sick woman with lots of ills. When years passed and I developed my ReA, I learned how sad it was. Because on days when I was in so much pain, I was the same old crab.
