stop Mino while on amoxicillin?

Here's one for the group. I am on amoxicillin for 10 days for a tooth infection.

Should I stop the mino on MWF for those 10 days? Or is it ok to do both? I did a

round of amoxicillin (that was combined with another drug, brand name Amoxik)

back in August and all my joint pain went away. I really don't think I have a

tooth infection, just got my dentist to write me a prescription " in case. "

Unfortunately he wrote it for a slightly different antibiotic. But perhaps it

will reveal something important with my health, whether it offers relief, or

not. I am starting it today as I have an appointment with my GP in 9 days and am

hoping if I see a difference that she will change my mino to amoxicillin. Any

feedback? Amy

Hi. My rheumatologist suggests I go off when getting dental work.

Hi Amy,

I don't know about that combo you mentioned. I had an infected tooth and my

dentist gave me Amoxicillin for 10 days. My naturopath doctor suggested

that I stop minocin while taking the amoxicillin and resume the minocin

after it clears. There is a chance they would cancel out each other.

You may want to run Amoxicillin with brand name Amoxik on Drugchecker.com:

http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=187-0,1636-1012

In my situation I did have a horrible infection. My tooth had to be

pulled. After the infection cleared I noticed relief with my joint pain and

less numbness in my feet. I believe that infection was part of what was

making me sick all over. Hope this helps you in some way.

Antibiotic Therapy is:  Low dose-long term use of antibiotics of the

tetracycline family.  You will never see results in your arthritic

disease within 9 days.    Never!---Dolores
