Guest guest
Why add stress/pressure with weightloss expectations and the chance you *might* not have clothes that fits? Buy the shirts....someday they will make for good " show and tell " at a New Year's Eve party! -, long Island NY, pre-Pre-op
Guest guest
I know no one can really help me with this, but I might as well throw it out there anyway..... I have my consultation with the bariatric center on Aug. 1. Assuming everything goes well, it takes about a month to go through their pre-op nutrional counseling, diet, and psych evals. I will have met (in theory) the 12 mos of insurance required doctor supervised visits as of Aug 26. So if all of the planets align properly, I could be approved for surgery as early as Sept. 1. I don't have real expectations that this will happen, but I can hope. So here's the stupid dilemma...Fall is coming up and in Michigan, it is sooner than later, which means I need clothes. My workplace is casual (a research lab) so I typically buy men's 3-4x shirts and those sell out quickly. I normally would buy a few now because the ones I like are on sale. I see the numbers people post as far as pounds lost, but unless you've been through it, you can't really grasp what that means. So what I'm wondering, is that if the surgery does go through fairly quickly, would I lose the weight fast enough to make buying clothes now a waste of money? If I could have the surgery in September, how quickly does a person drop a clothing size or two? I haven't dropped a size in years, so it's hard to imagine for me. in MI
Guest guest
I'm kinda in the same dilema. Right now at work we are in casual mode. Jeans & tshirts. In a few weeks we'll be back to business mode. Khakis & dress shirts. Well the clothes I have now won't fit me in a few weeks. But, I won't know until then what size to go buy. And I won't want to buy much because they won't fit for long! LOL! Darned if ya do & darned if ya don't. But, it's a problem I'm all too happy to have! LOL! I would suggest if you can last w/out buying then wait until after your eval & see how things go. If you get a quick surgery date you won't have to worry except to buy in a smaller size. Or maybe buy a couple in your size now and a couple in a smaller size if they're on sale now. Guest guest
I am now 4 weeks post op.I have lost 30lbs.All my weight I have lost is on top.My face down to my tummy. No bottom loss yet that I notice.I went from a 28/30 shirt to a 22/24.Depending on where you will lose is how you can determine.Do you know where you lose from 1st from prior days?Maybe that can help you out. when I was denied for my surgery in April,I was soo disgusted,I gave all my smaller clothes to Goodwill because I thought I would never need them since the surgery wasn't happening. Then I fought the ins. co. and got approved. Now all my small clothes are gone ( Good luck!
