Guest guest
Australian naturopath here updating you all on the progress of my client. We're three weeks into to AP - 50mg Minocin Mon and Fri's. Pain and nausea have increased but are manageable. Client had her first physio appointment since starting AP. Her feet, which are the most painful, were being worked on. The physio kept checking in with my client " Are you alright, are you sure you are alright? " Yes, said my client who generally complains that the phsyio is working too hard on her. " You are not going as hard as usual " , said my client. Yes I am the physio said, it's seems that you are not as inflammed and tender as usual! I am so grateful to have someone else watching this unfolding story closely. It is early days for us, but we are cautiously optimistic as there seems to be a shift underway. I tell you, if this lady can be helped, I will be shouting this from the roof tops, personally, because she is quite an extreme case. In the meantime I am raising awareness for this therapy in this community via my newspaper column All Natural in the Northern Star (published 27/02/08) and also gave you guys a good plug. See below Mycoplasma Mycoplasma is a family of organisms that have been implicated in illnesses like, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, lupus, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter's syndrome, ALS and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Mycoplasmas are unusual bacteria because they do not have a cell wall. They do not respond to all antibiotics like penicillin. Mycoplasma come in many different strains, up to 100 different types including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma genitalium for example. In an English study, Mycoplasma pnuemoniae was found in the synovial (joint) fluid of 79% of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Blood tests in a Belgium study found 69% of people with chronic fatigue were positive for at least one species of Mycoplasma infection. In a Polish study with children with juvenile arthritis 58% of the children tested positive for Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. A Brazillian study found 20% of women with Lupus tested positive for Mycoplasma hominis. Although not conventional treatment, many people who undergo low dose antibiotic therapy to clear the infection have reported improvement in their illness symptoms. In 1995 the National Institute of Health in America sponsored a trial of low dose antibiotics for treating rheumatoid arthritis, the therapy was deemed both safe and effective. As a naturopath I never thought the day would come when I would consider recommending long term antibiotic therapy. After having exhausted all natural treatments to eradicate specifically Mycoplasma pneumoniae it seems that the antibiotic therapy is the next logical step. The testimonies of patients at the support groups on this therapy are encouraging. Antibiotic therapy can have side effects and some people can experience an initial worsening of symptoms as the bacteria die off. It is extremely important that the gut is supported while undergoing this treatment. Some very interesting websites to check out for further details include www.rheumatic.org and www.roadback.org These websites provide information and support groups for questions about the antibiotic protocol. A simple blood test can be ordered from the doctor to check for Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. Doolan Women's Natural Medicine 1/70 Main St, Alstonville 66281920 or email info@... Guest guest
Latest update on client. 1 month in and things are slowly shifting. Despite the flares, feet and arm pain in slowly decreasing. She's waking once instead of 3 times/night, her head is clearer and she is much brighter. Appetite is increased for the first time in years, early morning nausea happens 5/7 days instead of 7/7. Energy and mood are up, both 7/10. She even has missed taking pain medication at the correct time, to no ill effect. She is now thinking pain medication reduction could be a real possibility. All in all, we're stoked. She's doing 100mg Minocin MWF and doing the minocin in a divided dose, 50mg AM, 50mg PM. we both feel so far so good. rheumatic Update on Australian Client Australian naturopath here updating you all on the progress of my client.
