Guest guest
Has anyone had bad reaction to taking licorice root? I think that is what I had beginning yesterday afternoon. I feel lightheaded and my blood pressure (diastolic) is in the 130s which is very high for me plus fast heart rate (90 to 100). I have only taken (less than the recommended dose on the bottle) for 2 days. Delores
Guest guest
Yes high BP is a very real possibility from licorice. Also the high tempo could be from too much thyroid getting to the cells at once thugh I have not heqrd of alot of folks gettign a thyroid dump from thi it is possible, -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Val, Wouldn't a thyroid dump result in higher temps? My temp is about the same (97.8). Also wouldn't a thyroid be over by now (this began yesterday mid afternoon)? If it is from the licorice, do you know if the high BP will correct itself now that I'm off licorice for good? Thanks, Delores Re: Licorice Root > Yes high BP is a very real possibility from licorice. Guest guest
Yes it may tke a week or so fo the BP to settle down agin but it should. I also think the temps should have gone up if it was caused by high thyroid getting to the cells too fast. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Delores, I had a reaction about a month ago. The feeling was very similar to when I attempt to start a small amount of T3, Armour or even thyropthin- not so much physical manifestions, but crazy mental symptoms. It was reassuring when Val answered my post asking if it could have been the Licorice. Licorice Root Has anyone had bad reaction to taking licorice root? Guest guest
Yes, I heard that too. It's only supposed to be taken for a maximum of 3 months (not sure about the length though) because of it raising blood pressure. i remember reading somewhere that licorice root should not be taken on a regular basis for a long period of time. has anyone else heard this? stacy Licorice Root Has anyone had bad reaction to taking licorice root? One of the side effects of licorice is increase estrogen - I felt the effects of this when I went off the licorice - but while I was on it helped my cortisol levels tremendously - much better than isocort. Last summer when I couldn't get my temps up no matter what I did, I used the Baschetti and had 98.6 all the time. I had to stop over the summer b/c of water retention. That does not seem to be a problem now. hth, Dahlia
Guest guest
>>The MAIN reaosn they warn against long term use of licorice root is the same reasons they warn against long term use of steroids. As it is an OTC med peole can take it that have no adrenal fatigue and in those cases it possibly could supress their adrenal function.
