Guest guest
I looked up thyroid resistance and sort of understand it, but is it rT3 or what? How do you treat thyroid resistance? Also Val what BP meds were you on while you got optimized on HC and thyroid meds? Were they beta blockers? I have read many places now about the beta blockers, especially lisinopril, that they slow down the thyroid. WOULD THAT CAUSE THYROID RESISTANCE You said my husband may be thyroid resistant or bad conversion because of high T4 and low T3. I plan on asking his doctors if they can put him on other BP meds that would still help BP but not bother thyroid... if he needs thyroid meds I do not want that hampered by BP meds.... Guest guest
Thyrpoid resistance is treated with T3 only for several months. RT3 is only made form T4 so you are taking away the hormone it needs ot make more so it dissipates when on T3 only, but you have to take enough T3 to lower your opwn production of T4 as well. I would suggest havignan RT3 test done wiht a Free T3 so you would know the ratio which is the most important. Yes I do believe beta blockers could be a cause of RT3 being too high. Some block converisn of T4 to T3 so the body will satrty making RT3 to clear out excess T4 it cannot use. I used Triamterene/Hctz adn Dyazide for BP for years. It did not correct it perfectly but now I am poff ALL Bp meds wiht a BP of 120/73 last checked at doctors. COrrecting the high RT3 also has corrected my high BP and my high am Cortisol. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
