Guest guest
Hi guys I'd appreciate hearing of other people's experiences and some advice about going back on Mino after being off it for a while. After four months off the Mino, which came about because my doctor suggested I try to get the candida under control, I've developed inflammation again and want to restart the antibiotics. I think a few people here have gone off it and then started again. I don't know whether to do the MWF 100mg as I did when I first started or to do 100mg daily which I've never really done. The MWF in the beginning took about 3 months to start working. I wonder whether doing it more intensively would take less time. Of course, there is also the candida overwhelm to take into account. I'm having Diflucan and Nilstat for that and am on the candida diet. I have to continue with inhaled steroids for serious asthma. I can't use NSAIDS or prednisone because of digestive issues. Am relying on acetaminophen (paracetamol in Australia) for some pain relief. I remember that inflammation inhibits the effect of the minocycline. My doctor isn't willing to give IV antibiotics at this stage. Thanks Ros
Guest guest
Hi! I had been doing really well on Minocin, but had to go off of it for three weeks, to take doxycycline(it doesn't help my Reactive Arthritis anymore) for a tick bite. After two weeks off, I felt so sick. Once I went back on the Minocin, it took two weeks until I started feeling a little better, but it took 6 weeks until it kicked in completely. Good Luck. Guest guest
Goodmorning all...Thank you Mike for welcoming and I to the group! I have been online for over 5 months trying to find out as much information as possible. I truly wish that I had " stumbled " on to the group much sooner. I have learned quite a bit from ya'll over the last week or so. commented last night that he is feeling better...he has been out of the mold infested home for about a week or so. He also wondered if the supplements, and diet have made an improvement. (He has been taking supplements now for about 2 months.) He actually has started moving better. He has better coloring. I am the researcher...I am the one who encourages to try alternative routes. hates to take pills...haha....but, he is great at taking all supplements three times a day! He has placed himself in my hands. I have tried to become informed....at times, it seems a bit overwhelming...however, I have learned quite a bit in many areas, but reading ya'lls life experiences certainly helps us carry on in the direction of alternative medicine. So once again, thank you so much for sharing your advice...the good moments, as well as the difficult heartbreaking moments. Today we meet with the redediation company. We will go over the protocal for the removal of the mold, and review the types of molds, and the density of each room. It is very interesting...with just a little research on chronic mold exposure and the effects on people, the symptoms are extremely similar. Even as far as the immune system, joint pain, " brain fog " , short term memory loss, neurological problems. The treatment with antibiotics are used to help the patient. However, long term mold exposure can create a systematic problem. The protocal is also the long term use of antibiotics...but, are antifungal, and can cause liver damage if not handled carefully. When we started this path, we hoped for an " ah ha " diagnosis...now, I realize that perhaps many factors have played into the decline of health of my husband. Hopefully, we will uncover each aspect that has played a part in his health and try to alleviate the negative...and embrace the positive! Have a great day ya'll! Guest guest
Hi Cathie! So happy you hubbie is feeling better. You are definitely on the right track and doing a fine job as an investigator. You will also be an asset to this site and the roadback.org site as fungus is not often discussed. Yes, we seem toconcentrate on the bacterial mostly and a little on the viral, but not too much on the antifungal. Although many of the patients are on difulcan automatically. I assume that is for fungus. I, for one have some gut problems I take pro biotics for. It has not completelyerased the intermittent diarrhea problem, but it does help in that it is not a continous thing. I have not lost weight because of it and I do not think that I am anemic at this time. Need to check that again soon. I was anemic back a few years ago. Extra doses of iron fixed that. Protein powdered drinks helped me to put some weight back on. I had a sudden 40lb weight loss when I was first diagnosed. Stay in touch and let us know how he is coming along. We love to hear stories with good endings. How is it that the fungus affected him and not you? Was it because he was sleeping in the room where the fungus was the heaviest and you weren't? My doctor is checking my C Diff now for the diarrhea. Have an appt. on the 15th of Oct. Will see what the outcome is. Take care and keep in touch! Thank you for your input! Guest guest
Hi lind. Sorry you are having a problem right now. I remember when you were doing fine. It seems like we address the subject of bacteria more than we do the fungal problems. I, for one would like to know more about combatting the fungal infections. Some people on this site are on antifungal medications as well. I have a problem with intermittent diarrhea. Doc is doing a C Diff test. Will see him on the 15th of Oct. for the results. He is an infectious disease doc, so I'm hoping you get your answer from someone who knows more about the candida infection. I will be watching the posts. Hope this starts a thread to approach that subject in more depth. Take care and hoping for the best for you. Guest guest
Dolores, for that intermittent diarrhea problem, you might want to try Metagenics Dairy free Ultra Bifidus to help control it. It's important to increase your probiotic dosage considerably whenever you are dealing with these gut problems. A good anti-fungal is olive leaf extract - three capsules, three times daily. Adding l. glutamine and slippery elm repairs the gut. I have found the olive leaf extract by Seagate Products to be very effective. Or, you might try the MMS discussed previously in the group. My husband had a leaky bowel problem for about 12 years causing him to have to wear protection. It was due to a fungal infection from taking antibiotics without taking probiotics. With the MMS, he started at 1 drop twice a day. On day 4 (4 drops) his problem resolved. He did continue increasing the drops for about 10 days to make sure the problem was completely resolved. That was nearly 2 years ago. I can send you info on the MMS if you are not aware of it already and would like to try it. It's cheap. .
