Guest guest
I have been on minocin 100 mg and doxy 100 mg daily. two months ago I had flu and a local doctor (not my Rheumy Dr) prescribed cefuroxime Axetil 500 mg twice a day for my sore throat. I just took 5 days instead of 10 days because I had pain and stiffness. I believed the pian was caused by new antbiotic. last week I had a very bad sore throat and chill that didn't go away. so I decided to take the remainder of the cefuroxime left from two months ago. my sore throat got much better but I am experiencing much pain and stiffness that makes me cry. I don't take pain killer. Any comment? is it herx reaction? why this antibiotic make me so stiff? I know I shuld finish the 10 days cycle. but the pain is killing me. besides my stomach is upset by taking 3 antibiotics. soheila d From: Sltfain@... <Sltfain@...> Subject: Re: rheumatic Harold-minocin rheumatic Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 6:48 PM Sue, keep your son on ascorbic acid (I am 120 lbs and I can handle 1/2 tsp. of this in water) along with one capsule of vitamin K a day.? You would rather him have some hyperpigmentation more than him not having the meds.? If you can, try to get him some iv's of clindamycin to get him started.? SD is a nasty one.? What you do is to give him enough ascorbid acid to get almost to the point of diarrhea.? If he gets diarrhea, then that is too much.? Back the amount off until you get there.? Best of luck to you and your son.? This is not an easy journey but you must be his strength.? Re: rheumatic Harold-minocin Roni, I changed from Minocin to minocycline. I began to develop hyperpigmentation and then switched to Teva doxycycline. They both seemed effective to me and the hyperpigmentation faded with the doxy. I changed doctors and am trying Minocin again which I am getting from Canada. I seem to be starting to get some hyperpigmentation again, so I'm thinking of going back on the doxy. Guest guest
Soheila, I'm not that knowledgeable about herxes. But, I know that you need to be on acidophilus (and lots of it), to combat the three antibiotics. I recently was on two different antibiotics(doxy and minocin) together, and I was guzzling the acidophilus to get rid of the gastro pain. The acidophilus did work. I hope you feel better. It gets so frustrating when we get different ailments on top of what we already have to suffer with chronically.
