Guest guest
Thanks Nil and SeaLady for the helpful tips. My son's cortisol is below range at 8 am and above range from noon right through the rest of the day and evening so, yes, it would make sense not to just take it at bedtime as I was thinking. And very good idea about having TWO lots of meds just in case. It occurred to me I am worrying unnecessarily I think about the Isocort because it is non-prescription. Am I right? I have to order it from the U.S.? What happems if one lives in the U.S. Can you just stroll into a health food store or vitamin store and buy it without prescription? I am having major problems trying to get my son UP and out of his bed to take his early morning dose in the early morning i.e. 8 am (ish) as he has got into a pattern of going to sleep around 2 am and waking around noon or later! So this morning he called me the 'sleep police' because I got him out of bed at 10.30 by forcing him to wake up. (We have our ways hee hee hee). I HATE people waking me up before I am ready so I empathise but I am having trouble getting through to him that he needs to take his Isocort earlier in the morning if it is to have any effect of getting his rhythm corrected. Am I fussing unnecessarily about this as I sometimes do not rise myself until 10 or so and then take my first dose of h/c? Mo Re: Re:PS and taking meds through customs at airports Once your cortisol levels rise it is very hard to drop it. I think it takes at least 8 hours. So,PS needs to be taken before levels start rising which changes for each person. If your levels start raising in the afternoon you need to take it before that time and also at least 15 minutes before eating anything. If you are exposed to stress and your levels started raising before you take PS it has little effect. It is not neutralising the released cortisol it is effecting the pituitary. bw Nil Re:PS and taking meds through customs at airports I put most all of my supplements in my baggage when traveling to Ireland this September and kept my armour and a couple of other meds in my purse. I had no problem, no one checked on either end, but to be on the safe side I would put some in his baggage and keep some with carry one in case they lose anything. I tried several different regimes of PS, taking different amounts at different times, some of my research now tells me that it is probably better to take some at lunch, dinner and late in the evening.
