Re: New labs in - bump for Val

Val, a couple of questions re: these labs.

1. TSH is dropping which makes my local doc happy, but T3 and T4 isn't

budging much. Is this normal as I titrate up and why is TSH moving in

the opposite direction if I still don't have enough thyroid hormone?

2. DHEA is still low. Top Doc took me off of it, but it was in

response to me complaining about GI upset in general and he took me

off of a couple of things. Seems to me that I could use some, at

least 5-10mg/day, and that it couldn't hurt much. You've mentioned it

to me at least twice before. I'm seeing a new Top Doc on Thursday and

going to ask him.

3. Ferritin isn't really high, but is it good enough that it is not a

problem for me in processing Armour and that I don't need to supplement?

4. Mag seems OK but Top Doc said that it's hard to test for. He

prescribed 50-100mg of mag glycinate/day which I have ordered. Will

ask new Top Doc about taking more.

5. Cholesterol values blow my mind. Do you think that this is mostly

Armour accounting for 50 point drop in 10 weeks? I've also dropped 15

pounds over that time frame without trying.

6. Sodium still seems low - around same as last time when you told me

to pack more salt in. I've since increased a lot to 1/2tsp 2x/day and

sprinkling it in drinking water and seasoning food and it has hardly

budged. I've been bothered by dizziness for almost a week. Do you

think that I need to talk to new doc about Florinef? I'm not

retaining as much as I used to though - hardly notice at all.

7. Someone over on Real Thyroid said that ACTH looked real low and

maybe I was hypopit. I had ACTH stim (low dose) and initial value of

18 did not double but it did go up which you thought was indicative of

primary AI, not hypopit. Is ACTH testing even accurate while

supplementing HC?

Sorry about the laundry list, but would like your input before I work

up my agenda for my doc's appt on Thursday.

Thanks,

>1. TSH is dropping which makes my local doc happy, but T3 and T4 isn't

budging much. Is this normal as I titrate up and why is TSH moving in

TSH is dropping because you are actually gettign thyroid to the cells now, even

though it is still not enough it is getting out odf the blood thus the TSH goes

down.

>>2. DHEA is still low. Top Doc took me off of it, but it was in

least 5-10mg/day, and that it couldn't hurt much. You've mentioned it

to me at least twice before. I'm seeing a new Top Doc on Thursday and

going to ask him.<<

iF IT WERE ME, i WOULD GO BACK ON some dhea

>>3. Ferritin isn't really high, but is it good enough that it is not a

problem for me in processing Armour and that I don't need to supplement?<<

What's the numbers?

>>4. Mag seems OK but Top Doc said that it's hard to test for. He

prescribed 50-100mg of mag glycinate/day which I have ordered. Will

ask new Top Doc about taking more.<<

I take 400MG daily I would increase that dose.

>>5. Cholesterol values blow my mind. Do you think that this is mostly

Armour accounting for 50 point drop in 10 weeks? I've also dropped 15

pounds over that time frame without trying.<<

OH YES Armoru is very powerful in lowering cholesteroel!

>>6. Sodium still seems low - around same as last time when you told me

to pack more salt in. I've since increased a lot to 1/2tsp 2x/day and

sprinkling it in drinking water and seasoning food and it has hardly

Again need ot see numbers. Needing that much sodium it is a good bet your

aldosterone is too low. You can try to take MORE salt or ask for aldosteroine

testing to get on Florinef. I have to take up to 3 tsp a day in summer.

I am not failiar with ACTH levels just interpreting the STIM test and I don't

think you are hypopit. Was is Chris? Other wise I would take it with a grain of

sea salt. H7popit has lots of hormones low including SEX hrmones and your

estrogen was high was it not? Is your Testosterone low?

Ferritin: 152 <20-380>

Sodium: 140 <135-146>

Potassium: 3.8 <3.5-5.3>

Did the aldosterone testing back in October and it was the following

and I was more or less upright.

ALDOSTERONE: 9.1 ngidL

<>

SERUM

Comments: See misc. lab note for complete result.

REFERENCE INTERVALS: Aldosterone, Serum

Reference intervals for age 15 and older:

Upright 4.0-31.0 ng/dL

Not Chris. Someone else. Estrogen used to be high before I got on

Isocort. It came right down after and now its:

Estrogens, total, serum: 106 <130 or less>

Progesterone: .5 <less than 1.4>

Estradiol: 21 <13-54>

Still waiting on testosterone but it was OK last time it was checked a

couple of months ago although not as high as it was before I started

on Isocort and estrogen was high.

Thanks so much for the input. It really helps to have it to focus me

ahead of next doc's appt.

I would say you could use Florinef but you may not need the full .1 mg

that is common dosage. You may only need half a tab btu you should also

supplement potassium wiht high potassium foods if you decide to try this.,
