Guest guest
According to Dr. Arem's book, he says that Cytomel T3 stays in the body for 5 hours. Thus, he prescribes it every 5 hours, at 7 am....12 noon.....5 p.m. He is a source that I definitely trust about this stuff. T3 update Well, I have had to stop my T3 supplementation. Two days ago I started to feel sick but wasn't sure of what it was and suspected it was the T3. Remember I reported headaches and some other mild things. Yesterday, after taking my morning dose of 5mcg, I completely crashed. Got super nauseous like I haven't been in ages and had to stress dose another 10 mg cortisol and still felt horrible...depressed, nausea, typical low cortisol symptoms. Also, my temps crashed to 97.7 average for the day. I didn't take any more T3 the rest of the day and today feel tons better...and no headache. So, I guess my adrenals are not strong enough. I am going to hold off on the T3 then slowly reintroduced down the road to see if I can handle it. I have a question. How long does T3 stay in the body? I read on some websites that some people take every other day after starting and it accumulating. Just trying to figure out how to dose and such. I am thinking maybe it wasn't getting into the cells and maybe that is why my adrenal issues got worse but not really sure. Cheri
Guest guest
Okay, between your response and Val's I am thinking it probably has a half life around 5 hours and completely out by 12. I know based on my experience yesterday, it was still in my body by 8 pm and I took the dose at 8 am. For dosing purposes I will remember the 5-hour window, though I would probably take it more frequently but just smaller doses. I just have to avoid it for now because yesterday scared the crap out of me. I was ready to jump out of a window! I was supposed to attend some training and ended up having to cancel because I was sick and my brain wasn't focused enough. Thank goodness I am so much better today.
