Guest guest
Hi all, since my old doc is useless and wouldn't help me with my knee pain, i saw a different doc who got me in to see the rheumo on Thursday week, after i told her my knee is killing me and i can hardly walk any more. I asked to see an orthopaedic surgeon, but the doc said i have to see the rheumo first for evaluation, and besides would have to wait months to see any specialist (i don't have private insurance). I guess the doc thinks oh yeah, she's got RA and that's the cause of the pain, so won't investigate anything further. I'm assuming because i get sharp pains in my righ knee only, and i can't put pressure on it sometimes, there's some sort of injury or damage that may be either caused by RA or a separate thing like menical tear (my left knee isn't good either). It seems one has to know all the right questions and right things to say to a doc. I thought they went to school for 50 years to learn all this stuff!!?? Well now i'm headed for the dreaded rheumo who bears a strange resemblance to Lurch off the Adam's family :/ That's after many years of avoidance and neglect of my condition as the doc so cearly stated on my referral. I guess they'll want to shove me on methotrexate. I'll have to do a bit of ducking and weaving as i want to stay on AP for a few months before going onto anything stronger. Guess i can get a prescription but i don't have to take the stuff. I hope my joints don't detiorate whilst on AP or i'll be crippled. The jury seems to be out on whether AP in an anti-inflamm or a DMARD. Life is a lottery. best, Leonie
