Hello Jeffery

I have read Dolores email and your email. why you are mad at her?. am I missing

something? Have you read her email to the end? I wish I was as optimistic as

her.

I have SD too. Doctor didn't tell me it is a fatal disease. I found it myself by

reading about the disease. I wasn't scared to find out I may die anytime soon.

I was scared to find out this horrible disease takes away my health and changes

my appearance that that I would hate to look at myself in the mirror.

Am I the only one with SD that found this post a little more than gloom and

doom as well as discouraging and depressing? Just what I wanted to read on

my

lunch hour is a reminder that my disease is fatal, and that it will get me

SOONER than later. I don't view this disease with rose-colored glasses, but

I

thought for those just starting out, and having a difficult time enough just

adjusting to the fact that they have this disease more thought should have

gone

into a post like that.

Everyone should be trying to give positive input and helpful hints and

suggestions I believe.

Had to vent - been burning my butt for hours! Gail

Hi Jeffery,  Sorry to burst your bubble.  I didn't think any grown up was under

the illusion that they are immortal.  We will all go someday no matter what we

do.  The important thing is to live life to the fullest and healthiest we can.

And to leave behind something good that others can grasp on to and hold dear.

Be it a memory, a kind word, or gesture.  But, we must be truthful and not lie

to ourselves and to others.  Scleroderma is a terminal illness, but we can live

a full and healthy life with it with the right care and attitude.  My hero is

Lance Armstrong.  Now there is a man who was on his deathbed and lived to win

bikeathons, have children, get a new career, get remarried, etc.  He is an

inspiration to all of us.  I'm saying that our bodies were designed to cure

themselves, if we give them what they need for survival.  But that doesn't mean

forever.  Life is a gift and it is wonderful.  But it is not forever.  We are

visitors

on this planet.  It is not our home. We must make the best of what we are given

but not delude ourselves that we don't have a terminal illness when we do.  Yes,

we miss our loved ones when they go and hopefully we will do enough good that

someone will miss us.  I am amazed that you were offended by my words.  How old

are you that you do not know that you are a mortal human being just like the

rest of us? I hope when I go my friends, family and children celebrate my life

and not mourn my death.  When my life is over, I would want them to rejoice that

I made my life so meaningful.  Treasure each and every day you are on earth and

don't give in to self pity.  There are others much worse off than you.

Acceptance leads to achievement.  My sincest best wishes to you and hope you can

gain some insight from these words.  I consider them pearls of wisdom.  Dolores
