Guest guest
Hi : UC-II is undenatured type 2 collagen, actually a nutritional supplement - prescribed for me by Dr. Trentham after the Minocin stopped working. That was 6 years ago. At that time, my only alternative was to go back on Methotrexate but I agreed to participate in a double blind study of UC-II and had great success with it. I got it from Vitamin Shoppe. You take one capsule with just a sip of water at bedtime on empty stomache and one in the morning with sip of water on empty stomache, no other liquids or food for at least 20 minutes (i.e. before breakfast). It is essentially chicken sternum. There are chicken collagen supplements out there but this type 2 is undenatured, which is the key. It tricks the immune system into not attacking the collagen in your joints. I don't know why it stopped working but Dr. T questions that it was stress or a virus. At any rate, since it's been 6 yrs. since was on Minocin it is like a new med to my system again (hopefully). Just now getting off of prednisone which was needed due to horrid flare. The current game plan is to get under control with Minocin and eventually try to go back on the UC-II. Glad to see you are still here, . Guest guest
Hi Babs Thank you for the info, actually I have a bottle of Collagen Type II from Vitamin Shoppe. I had been taking it wrong, so now I'll try the protocol. How fast did this work when you started it? Actually the cold laser has really helped me, but I always figure I can be better. Guest guest
Hi /Babs This sounds like something I would like to try but I wonder if it interact with the minocin at all. (I am on minocin twice a day 100 mgs) I take the minocin when I get up and then don't eat anything for 3 hours b/c I was told doing so limits the potential of taking in minerals, like zinc, that may interfere with the minocin. I wonder if it would be effective take the minocin at the same time as the UC-II. Any thoughts/ideas? Guest guest
Hi, you all, a good gastro expert friend of mines told me to always take Minocin with food since it does cause GI problems in the long run. I know what it says on the leaflets to take it without food but Minocin causes serious GI problems. He said do not sleep or lie down for at least 30-45 minutes after you take Minocin to minimize any chance of GI bleeding and coilitis. You can read that on that the leaflet as well. You might develop coilitis and get some serious joint pains with that disease so just be careful. > > > > > > > Hi > > > > Took about 2 weeks for full effect, as I recall. Guest guest
Hi I also take Levoxyl for thyroid and am finding that all the pills I have to take are a scheduling nightmare. Some take with no food, others take with food, yeegads! I have Myasthenia Gravis on top of it all and my neuro said I should have a pharmocologist work up my med schedule. I think I need to do this real soon because I also need to take calcium due to Vitamin D deficiency but have simply stopped taking it due to all the contras.
