After all he cured himself of RA using antibiotic therapy. He also, from time to time, does live chats with www.rhematicsupport.net God Bless, Carol_DM
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I thought it was you who sent me the book way back when I was in my mental fog days. Now that things are clearing up for me, I was hoping you would read that post and let me know. I thank you so much for so much information. The book is a treasure I am definitely going to impart everything I read. I had read it once, but my brain just wasn't ready at the time to absorb so much information. Yes, I am doing superfine. God, nobody would ever know that I once was dying from Scleroderma. I look and feel and function like a different person. I still have some residual damages that are in the healing process and once in a while, I eat what I shouldn't and it makes me feel kinda' bogged down, but for the most part, I am really super. I have some friends I used to work for at their hostel in Ft. Lauderdale. They are a Christian couple who are into funding causes. They have a girl's school in Guatemala and one in South Africa. They also own a Christian book store in Lauderdale. It was at her place where I spent the first few months in bed when first diagnosed. We were supposed to work that winter at their hostel and I ended up in a Florida hospital and then to their place. Poor Mike got stuck with all the work that year. That was Jan. 05. I was in bed for a whole year after that. Yikes! Thank God for Lynne G, The RoadBack, Dr. Brown, you guys, the whole thing. They were getting ready to measure me for my coffin. I was really right there at the edge of oblivion. Well, I called my friend last night and she and hubby are coming down. You know I want to start a retreat of some sort for people recovering like I was. I could sure have used a to place like a retreat to rest and learn more about what was ailing me then. We will start looking for property and hopefully by this time next year, have a place up an running. That is my next goal for Puerto Rico. Take care all of you. Thanks for all your help. Dolores & Mike    From: Bob & Carol Zarn <bczarn@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: flare rheumatic Date: Sunday, June 13, 2010, 9:35 AM Dolores, Every time I read a post from you I am so thrilled that you have got your life back. I use the term auto-immune disease for lack of another term as I am not sure what to call these conditions,. I, like you, do not believe that the body attacks itself but do not know what else to refer to these diseases. the term " auto-immune " is understood by most as to what is being referenced. hope that helps, carol_DM

Guest guest
Well, if you ever decide to do one of those famous " Round the World Trips " that Australians take, make one of your stops P.R.and spend some time with us. Most Aussies, do not bother stopping on a small Island when they have the entire world to see. I once met a girl in Mexico from Australia who was one one of those round the world tours in a year trip. Several months later, she visited me in NYC, Last I heard, she described floating in the Dead Sea as quite an experience and I never heard from her again. Well, take care, Best to you and yours. Dolores   From: Maz <mazm_mm@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: flare rheumatic Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 11:04 PM  Interesting .. Of course we do the whole long trip thing ... it's a long way from here to there !! no point in going for a few weeks. Unfortunately I don't anticipate going over there again any time soon - I did all my serious travelling in my 20's & 30's & am looking to just relax in the sun now, Bali & Thailand is about as far as I get to lately. But thanks for the invite though, If you guys ever get over here, give me a hoy though you are most welcome. Guest guest
Wow! Bali & Thailand sounds so romantic to me. I think of the old movies and plays like South Pacific and Mutiny on the Bounty and want to go to all those places including Tahiti.. But am getting old and taking care of Mom prohibits much more travel. I told Mike, the next trip may be just a short Carribean cruise to Aruba, northern Venezuela, maybe parts of Central  America, Belize, Jamaica, maybe the Cayman's, etc and then back to Puerto Rico. I skipped Mexico, because when I lived in California, we toured most of Mexio by land many times. I fell in love with the Yucatan Peninsula especially, the Carribean side. Ah! my wanderlust is back. Just wanting to wander is my personal sign that I have reached full remission. Now if only I can turn back the clock! Best to all, Dolores  Hi Eva, Have a great trip out west. Visiting your son again! That is wonderful! Say hello to hubby for us and don't forget to put us on your agenda when you decide to come South. We have the RV set us as guest quarters. Sleeps 2 very comfortably. And I found a health store nearby that sells all types of healthy things including a large assortment of Gluten free foods. I never saw so many supplements. I was there yesterday and thought a lot about you and Lynne. I know all this chit chat is off topic  But, I believe, that getting back to normal life again after remission is not talked about often enough. We are humans, and not just walking diseases. The entire being must be nourished and dreams and goals are important. When I reached remission, I said to myself, now what! The what, is that we start living again. Maybe, we can even appreciate more the small things we ignored in our youth. Have a wonderful day everybody. Dolores & Mike From: Maz <mazm_mm@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: flare rheumatic Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 11:04 PM  Interesting .. Guest guest
Certainly are -- yesterday was our shortest day. As for the rain, hate to tell you but we have just come out of 25 yrs of severe drought so any rain is a good thing, you should Google up Lake Ayre & see that it's alive with bird life etc, & more coming down from up north so maybe now we can get some relief from the water restrictions down here. Guest guest
Hi Judy, I am not in remission but I am asymptomatic which is close. I don't have any evidence of the disease & zero symptoms since mid Dec 09 but continue to use AP. Perhaps Dolores could join in here ?? Guest guest
Hi Judy, I had to sit and ponder the same question myself and here is my version of remission. At first when some of my symptoms disappeared, like the Raynaud's, I thought I was in remission. But then other symptoms appeared like constant diarrhea. Then when that disappeared, I thought I went into remission. And it went on like that. I didn't realize that I was also in a mental fog at the time. I wanted remission so badly, that each change for me really meant remission and then another symptom would rear its' ugly head and then suddenly, the symptoms really all disappeared. I was on a myriad of antibiotics and going to an Infectious disease doc who was really after attacking all my bugs, whether they were bacteria/viral or fungal. It was clean out the house time and I was sick, but actually getting much stronger. Then one day, my blood work came back. I stared at the results in disbelief.. They read negative, zero, zilch! Everything was once again normal including heart, lung, kidneys, cholesterol and triglycerides were normal. My blood work said, there was nothing wrong with me. I had xrays and MRI's done. They were negative. Doc and I decided to repeat all tests to make sure. Yep, all negative. I waited a year and then had everything tested again. Still negative. I asked the folks at the Roadback if this was remission and they said, by all counts, it sure looks like it. That was remission for me. Now, I started to think, There are others who are symptom free, but have sero-positive results too, so maybe there are degrees of remission. Each time I took a step up, for me it was remission. I don't think there is a definite definition of remission. I think it is a step up from where you were and how far up you are willing or able to go. Each person's experience is so different from every other. With my disease of scleroderma, each day was a different and new day during my journey. And what a journey it was and still is. Because of the differences in people, no one really knows the answer to that question. If you don't feel like you have reach yours yet, keep on working on it. When you begin to live a normal life and don't spend every waking minute thinking about your disease any longer, then I think you have reached your level of remission. Wishing you the utmost success.
