Guest guest
Hi All, It's been some time since I've been on here. Long story short, I have Graves, underwent RAI in 05 (big mistake), and have been trying to get my life back ever since. I went to see Dr. Nusbaum (at Dr. Brownsteins) last February, and have been working well with him. He put me on a million supplements, and started me on Armour. I was feeling pretty good (at least better than on Synthroid),at 2.5 grains. Then, all of the sudden, the brain fog and mood swings were back. He ran my labs, and here is what they were: TSH 0.01 (.30-5.50) FT3 8.0 (1.9-3.9) FT4 1.28 (.76-1.70) He's not worried about the TSH, but is concerned about the T3. He wants me to lower my dose of Armour to 2 grains, and add a few more supplements. He thinks my adrenals are not working well enough to deal with the Armour. Does this sound right? I'm worried to lower the Armour. Also, I am considering getting pregnant with #3. If I do, will I be able to stay on Armour and all of the adrenal supplements? My OB told me I would have to go off of the supplements, which scares me. How do you get through a pregnancy if you can't support your adrenals? Thanks, Jen
Guest guest
Yes it is best to lower Armour when starting adrenal support but have you had cortiosl testing to know what is going on? I would ask for saliva cortisl testing to knwo where your adrenal function is. as sometimes supplemnets are not enough. Why waste months trying thewm while adrenals get worse? Your OB is wrong. Adrenal treatment is fine during opregnancy as you are onyl replacing the hormones your body would be making if it could and in fatc cortisol needs DOUBLE during pregnancy so you would need even more. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Dr. Nusbaum did cortisol testing in my urine, but not saliva. He doesn't do it that way. Should I do saliva testing on my own? I believe when he did the testing, my cortisol level was high, but I would have to double check. In terms of my FT3, why do you think it's so high? Is it that I'm on too much Armour, or that my adrenals just aren't supporting it? In terms of the OB, she is concerned that the supplements have things that are not good for the baby. Dr. Nusbaum made it seem like I could stay on some of them. I will have to figure out how to get them to work together. Guest guest
High cortisol does not usually cause high T3 compared to the T3. Thsi si usually from LOW cortios so yes I would think some saliva labs would clarify the situation. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
