Guest guest
on GAPS and BED i have read both books and am torn on my feeling on them. both have good points but i suspect that the fruit and honey on GAPS is not helpful for us and i think we all know how adversely dairy affects us. i think she has good points re avoiding cooked starches. i think BED is cook in that it eliminates everything sweet and both have good ways for building up and healing gut. BED does include some cooked starches that aren't grains but seed-like grains like quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat. they have to be soaked in lemon j or acv for 12-24 h before cooking to release the enzyme inhibitors. i haven't met anyone with RA yet who's used GAPS tp heal though i have spoken with author of BED - donna gates - and she said it has really helped her clients with RA. that's my 2 cents. monique hi Deb, i'm just starting out on finding out about diets etc and haven't read the whole book yet (very lazy). it's hard for me to recommend anything cos i haven't much to compare the GAPS diet with. i haven't read body ecology yet even to it's supposed to be good and similar to GAPS. i like GAPS because it addresses the fundamental issues around gut dysfunction which then leads to diseases like auto-immune etc. the actual diet seems good too and something i can manage. imho, get it if you can afford it and learn everything you can. it all helps. there is a support list for GAPS too which i just joined. best, leonie
