Guest guest
Leoni, Have you read the books by Scammell. They explain the entire process. You don't need any extra antiinflammatory. Minocin is an antiinflammatory in itself as well as an antibiotic. Anything you add extra to that could diminish the ability for Minocin to do it's work. I currently take Celebrex and was wondering how long you have to keep taking the NSAIDS whilst on AP ? My aim is to give up Celebrex all together as I worry about it's side effects. Does anyone have any experiences to share with me ? Thanks... ~Leonie (Canberra, Australia)
Guest guest
Hi Leoni, You did read that about NSAID's because I read it somewhere too. You'll have to forgive me because I don't remember where I read it. That was back in 2000 or 2001. Anyway, I had to take Vioxx for about a year along with Minocin to be able to function. I eventually tapered off and gave it up altogether. I am in the midst of a nasty flare after years of remission and I am using Mobic along with Minocin. I am noticing that somedays I do not need the Mobic and I am adjusting the dosage accordingly. The NSAID will not stop or hinder the effectiveness of the Minocin so don't worry. I probably shouldn't ask questions till I've finished it I'm not sure where I read about taking NSAIDS - whether it was in the book or Roadback website ? Thanks for your reply. Guest guest
Hi Leoni, The Scammell books explain the " The Infectious Theory " . It was Doctor Trentham who told me not to mix Minocin with anything else. Prior to that, many years ago I was on Motrin for a long time at high doses and wound up with an open stomach ulcer which took a long time to heal. I was speaking from experience, not from what I read in the book and from what my doctor had told me. I certainly didn't want to end up with ulcers again, so I've never taken another NASID again and trusted that the Minocin would have enough antiifammatory properties in it to work. I'm grateful I did. For me it worked! Sorry you mistook my message. I never said I read that in a book.
