Guest guest
i was just going to post the same question, as i have the same thing going on, and am on the same dosage. i've been on cytomel for almost 2 months now, and haven't lost any weight yet. i'm hoping someone can offer hope and guidance with this. susan > > I'm new to this group and new to taking T3. I just started yesterday with 5 mcg 2 times per day. I need to know if I can expect to have some weight loss with this. I have been gaining weight over the past year and have increased 2 sizes in trousers/skirts. Guest guest
Hey, try about one year and stilling gaining weight. I wonder about this so called weight loss too. How do we get to that magic place? Does it happen? If it's any consolation when I got to the right place I stopped gaining weight! Losing it is harder though, the dirhhea I had recently did let me lose 10 pounds and that has stayed off but that was a very unplesant way of losing it. Armour reforrmulating had caused me to gain 16 pounds in a few weeks. Guest guest
I'm gettng new blood work done in 2 weeks. How do I get cortisol tested? I did the day-long adrenal saliva test but Dr. P said that my results were " mad " (too high; I'd been on one Adreno-Lyph for about 2 weeks). He said that would affect the test and that the results were not valid given that I'd been using a supplement/medication. I, too, wonder if there is some kind of nutrient that will help my body get rid of the cortisol. We have lived under unrelenting stress for about 3 years now. One 5 mcg dose of T3 upon rising yesterday sent me into day-long muscle tension. However, I've noticed that the small T3 does has seemed to help my IBS some. Weird, huh? Any further guidance? > > Do you have any recent labs ? Thyroid cortisol or ferritin? Guest guest
You should redo the adrenal saliva test wihtout the adrenal support meds. You need to be off them for at least 2 weeks to get valid results. There are safe means to reduce cortios but we need to knwo exactly when it si high., If you run high you need to get electrolytes as this and IBS can cause low potassium and sodium. Potassium w3as like a major miracle for me! It turned off my 20 years worth of IBS liek a faucet! but it is nto something to supplement willy nilly so an electrolyte anel would be adviseable. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Hi & all others who have responded, Thanks for your replies. Was my cortisol tested when I did the adrenal test? It’s rather expensive to get all of these done so I’m not sure I can re-do them this soon. We’ve had the adrenal, sex hormones, and candida done, plus the visit with Dr. P all in the last month! I just got back sex hormone test results – progesterone VERY LOW, so Dr. P told me to order some Serenity Cream. Just got it ordered; should start it in a few days when it arrives. Tried to call endo but no one answers the phone; I want him to order the rt3 test when I get new blood work done. Regards, Deborah
Guest guest
Can you post your cortiosl labs wiht ranges? -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
I had an Adrenal Saliva Test, not cortisol. I gave the results to Dr. P and he kept them, so I don't have them any more. I have thought to contact his office and have them send them back to me. I did ask the question earlier in the forum about how to get my cortisol tested. Can you help me find that out? Thanks, Deborah
Guest guest
Nick, Talking for loosing weight I have a question for you. When I crashed 2 years ago,I gained a bunch of weight, while being on T4 only. Then I added a 2,5mcg T3 and no change until I started HC. When I added the HC I lost probably 10pb for a month without any try. Then with the time being on 35mg HC and going on T3 only I gained the extra 10pb ,which are not in my regular weight.I'm on 50mcg T3 and can't go higher at all. So,I wonder how being on T4 120mg and only 2.5mcg T3 I lost 10pb for a month and now being on T3 only I'm such a disaster with my weight. That should be proof I'm very hypo, which I know from all my symptoms. Is it possible I may do better on T4 and T3 combo. For some reason I don't have problem tolerating a huge dose of T4 but not T3. I never understood why is that? So,if I have cleared the RT3 and go on T4 and T3 combo how long will build up the RT3 again,if that is going to be the case? Thanks Milena > > > > >Hey, try about one year and stilling gaining weight. I wonder about this so called weight loss too. How do we get to that magic place? I only tried the change back once and it wasn't working for me so I went T3 only and stayed there, I feel better than I ever did on Natural >So,if I have cleared the RT3 and go on T4 and T3 combo how long will build up the RT3 again,if that is going to be the case? Val can feel the RT3 building within weeks. You should be able to tell pretty quickly, sway 10 (or 12,5) of T3 for 1 grain of natural (which is 9 of T3 and 38 of T4). Initially there should be no change in how you feel. If Rt3 results from the T4 you will start going more hypo, temperature will drop. If it starts converting the T3 then you will start feeling less hypo or even hyper and that is the time to drop the other 12.5 or 15 and you have swapped 1 grain for 25 of T3 which are roughly inentical if you convert OK. If that works then repeat the process taking as long as you like. You can stop at any stable point. Nick

Guest guest
Nick, I haven't been on natural. If I decide to go on a combo of T4 and T3 ,do you think is better to go for a natroid and T3 then lthyroxin T4 and T3? What kind of natural thyroid do you suggest to look for? Thanks a lot Milena > > >For some reason I don't have problem tolerating a huge dose of T4 but not T3. Guest guest
Nick, Can you suggest what else to look for in conne4ction of not being able to raise the T3 more then 50mcg? You gave me before all the reasons and I have covered all of that. I have 200 ferritin,I'm on a very high HC,wich now I'm lowering for high crts symptoms and my vit.D is 50 from 10. I have been trying to get this answer and seems I ran the brick wall. So, what else should I do? I also asked Val and she requested my iron panel in case my ferritin is folsly elevated but is not. So,do you have any other idea what else can be holding me from raising higher T3? I need your help and I don't know what to do from here? thanks a lot Milena > > > > >I haven't been on natural. If I decide to go on a combo of T4 and T3 ,do you think is better to go for a natroid and T3 then lthyroxin T4 and T3?
