Guest guest
Kathy, I am so glad you getting your meds as needed. I was put on armour thyroid about two months ago and I am also starting to feel better. I can walk more upright. How much do you take on the thyroid? Eva From: Kathy <sunbriar@...> Subject: rheumatic back to old DR YEAH! rheumatic Cc: NaturalThyroidHormones Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 12:05 PM I was desperate.. so I made an apt with my old DR. when i first moved here i was refered to them, at that time she was still a med student! she now has her own office. anyway, I really liked her alot, but she said she was not comfortable giving me minocycline, so I went away searching for new Drs that i liked who would give me the prescriptions I needed .. anyway, Ive been on the mino for 18 mos now, I needed new thyroid med too, I went back to her.. last time she saw me I had bad arthritis.. anyway. I told her how great ive been doing on the minocycline and she agreed to write the scripts for that now. and I talked to her about the armour thyroid and she agreed to that also!!!! I feel so happy, so much pressure off me now! My Dr I liked has agreed to write these things for me! (and I asked if she wanted her name on any lists of DRs who will write them for others but she said NO) anyway, I am hoping I can now start to loose some of this weight, and grow back my nails and my hair will stop falling out, and on and on... came home and took a 2nd armour thyroid with lunch! Guest guest
How is Armour different in treating thyroid problems compared to synthroid? I have been on synthroid for many years.
Guest guest
Ive only had armour thyroid, because I read about it BEFORE I ever asked for any, so Im not one to answer. But I think that armour has all kinds of micro ingredients ..whole thyroid) and sunthroid only has one or two.. Kathy
Guest guest
Yes, that's right. Armour Thyroid contains T1, T2, T3, T4, and calcitonin. These are all substances that a healthy thyroid produces. This brand comes from ground-up pig thyroid, and is regulated to be sure that each tablet contains a certain amount of each substance. Synthroid contains only T4, because the body is supposed to convert this to T3 (ft3 is the active hormone). Many believe that T1, T2, and calcitonin are not needed, because these do not impact the active hormone fT3. Synthroid is man made. Probably most people t4 to ft3 just fine. There are some who don't. I think I convert well enough, but I chose to take Armour Thyroid because I prefer to receive whole spectrum of thyroid hormones. They don't test t1, t2, so I don't know whether my dead thyroid would produce those. Mainstream doctors do not like Armour Thyroid. I've heard a few different reasons, but none were backed up by science. To be honest, I don't know of any science that says one is better or safer than the other. I'm just going with my preference. I think the main thing is for people to to be sure their free t3 is at least at the middle of the range. I had terrible body pain until I got my ft3 above the middle of the reference range. Guest guest
Amy, my AP doctor put me right away on Armour thyroid. She told me not to take the Synthroid because my whole thyroid quit on me and only the armour thyroid would help. I can tell the difference already after two months.
