Guest guest
i eat solids right away too -- Lisbeth Again, it is so strange that I already had to eat a sandwich at the hospital. Over at your side you have to stick to soft solids and liquids for a long time.......over here, you have to eat solid food after the surgery very quick. I am very afraid of eating solids and ruining my surgery somehow. Eating is still going very well as long as I take things slow and chew very well. I guess me not losing any weight anymore is a good sign. Hugs, Biancka Re: scared Hi Biancka,This is week 5 for me post heller with wrap. I've been sticking to soft solids and liquids. If I eat something that's a bit hard to digest I get the pressure feeling. One time last week when I really pushed myself with chicken and salad the pressure lasted 2 days. It scared me and I called my doctor. Take it really slow. I know it's so hard because it feels so good to swallow! I've learned to pace myself to avoid the pressure feeling which for me is completely different from what I felt before surgery. I'm almost scared of rushing myself into eating foods because I don't want to ruin the surgery somehow. Lisbeth
Guest guest
rheumatic Lisbeth It was great sadness this morning when I read of Lisbeth's passing. Please send my condolences to her son Mark. She certainly was a great spark in this group and will be sadly missed jan in PA may the sun shine on you today and always Spark! That was Lizbeth. She had a heart of gold! She had been a very sick lady long before she joined us, but she fought every inch of the way, always seeking answers, and she was such an encouragement to everybody on the list. Lizbeth lived in New Zealand, yet she travelled all the way to Riverside California for the wonderful seminar Dr. Franco put on for our group and his patients in April of 1998. In fact, Lisbeth had made friends with a wheelchair bound RA patient in Canada, who was also in the group at the time. This wheelchair bound person was having a time getting medical care. She had no money for travel so Lizbeth used a small inheritance to pay her way and that of this RA patient to come to the seminar, and then became her caregiver while she was there. After the seminar, Dr. Franco set aside time to see any patient who had traveled to the seminar and wanted to see him. Dr. Franco was always so willing and gracious in offering his help to us, so I asked him a favor. Would he please see Lisbeth's friend at no charge? He was more than happy to do so. The friend won one of the prizes in a drawing for lab work so now the stage was set for her to receive help. After the seminar, Dr. Franco set aside a special time to see Lisbeth's friend, and after the visit, he personally drove her back to the hotel - speaking words of encouragement to her all the way. He recommended a number of good supplements to aid in her getting well, but she had no money for them. The generous hearts of so many in the group sent checks to Dr. Franco's office to cover the cost of these supplements, and it wasn't long before Lisbeth's friend sent me a picture of her riding her horse again. This lady has now become a goodwill ambassador to others needing to know about this therapy. Her story is on our webpage. For those of you who would like to look at some of the pictures taken at that seminar, check out this link - click on Franco files. http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/6412/supportgroup.htm I wonder how many are still in the group that went to that seminar? Guest guest
I didn't know Lisbeth. It is always sad to hear someone's passing. May her soul rest in pease. My thoughts go to her family. Guest guest
I never met Lisbeth but in 1997 she was posting a lot and her emails were so funny and demonstrative. I usually sound angry in my emails so I adopted her way of describing how I feel such as (giggling) (sigh) (smiling loudly) and so many more. She was a wonderful person also in the way she made you feel that she was really interested in your comments or problems. When she stopped emailing I was disappointed. She is now peaceful and without pain and that is good. I will remember her fondly. cooky
