Hi Carol and welcome to the group. You most certainly are welcome. What we don't like are the people that used to join and try to sell their miracle cures that are nothing more than a money maker for these quacks. If alternative worked for you, thats wonderful.

I never once gave any thought to an alternative treatment. I had 6 mo of chemo and next month I will be a 16 yr survivor. I had a mastectomy, one bad node, no radiation or reconsturction.

Breast Cancer X 4

Hi there, I'm new to the group, in fact, this is the first time I've ever posted anything in a group and when I think of talking to people I don't know about my cancer experienses differant from what you are going through I wonder if you'll even want me in your group, let me know how you feel, OK?

My first cancer was in 1995. I found out I had BC and was told by the surgeon I needed a Mastectomy followed by Chemo followed by Radiation. (I watched my mother go through radiation and suffer). I only had a lumpectomy and decided against Chemo and Radiation. Through prayer, the Lord led me to a Dr. who worked with alternative methods and had very good success with cancer patients. He put me on a veg. diet, herbs, antioxidents, and some strong supplements and that treatment lasted 2 years and I felt fine but in 1999 the cancer came back so I had another lumpectomy and went back to the same Dr. and a veg. diet and supplements for 2 years and felt good. Then in 2004 the cancer was back again, this time I went to a Chiropractor and natrapathic doctor. I had accupunture, a special diet (which I'm still on because it's a healthy way to eat) and many supplements. Then in Jan., 2006 I had another lump and the doctor said NO MORE LUMPECTOMIES! This time he would only do a mastectomy, end of subject. I did have a CT scan and it was neg. but a needle biopsy came back cancer. The surgeon agonized with me , prayed with me and told me to get back with him to schedule surgery by Friday. Meanwhile the chiropractor had heard of a laser therapy, called me on the phone, told me about a treatment that I'd never heard of, it sounded like a miracle to me. He gave me a phone # and after it was explained to me I could see the Lords hand in this. I shared it with my husband and children. My husband said we had to do this but my children both thought I should have the surgery, etc., I really felt bad for them because they didn't understand how this laser therapy could do miracles like I'd been told. Anyway my my husband and I went to the clinic and had the treatments and came home cancer free, no pain, no nausea etc, etc. That was 2 months ago and I'm doing so good even I can't believe it. I'm 63 years old and feel like I've been given a new lease on life. I have 5 grandchildren and we spend as much time with them as we can.

There is someone in the group that said his Aunt has cancer and he (it sounded like a man, didn't it) wanted to know about something he heard on the radio, I don't know what he heard but I could see how my chiropactor heard about this laser therapy and let you know if that's allowed in this group.

Anyway, if I had to do the last 11 yrs. over again, I wouldn't change anything excepy be more understanding of my children, these years have been heart wrenching for them.

Do you understand my struggles regarding surg., chemo, and radiation? Did any of you have struggles like I did when it came to making one of the biggest decisions we'll ever have to make, (that's the way I felt)? I thank God for modern day miracles and a wonderful, supportive husband. I'm also thankful for modren technology and what they can now do.

I feel like I shared my heart with you my (my sisters in suffering) things very few people outside of my family know of and unless you've had cancer you couldn't understand the stress it puts on a family.

BLessings on all of you today and remember God loves you, so we don't go through these things alone. Sincerely, Carol

Carol... if they won't allow you to talk about it here (but I really don't see why not, especially since it could maybe save someone from lots of unneccessary suffering) ... maybe you can send me a private email about that laser therapy. After reading these posts and knowing all of the suffering these ladies have been through... well, if there was ANY way to keep my aunt from having to go through all of that, I would be a FOOL not to try and learn as much about it as I could. You aren't one of those patients that are going to be on the radio tomorrow are you? Please, either post a message or send me an email telling me more about this place. To Os. , I really don't know specifically what you need to know but to put it in a simple explanation is to say I gave my medical info. to the Dr. and she told me she could help me, she was very encouraging. If this is the same Dr. (on the radio tomorrow that my Chiropractor heard) she'll give her telephone # to her clinic and your aunt can call her and discuss her cancer herself and go from there. Tell your Aunt I'm doing well and had no pain, nausea, hair loss, weakness, fatigue, nothing to indicate I even had anything done!!! Tell her I would recommend it to anyone as the first thing to check out when they find a lump. I know this sounds to easy for something so serious but your Aunt needs to talk to the Dr. because everything the Dr. told me was exactly the way it was. My situation is probably differant from her so it would be better to let the Dr. talk to her and answer her questions. No, I'm not going to be on the radio. I hope this answers you questions. Hi,

I'm new to the group. I am 46 and am just a month into my diagnosis of breast cancer with mets to my spine, hips, and a rib. Not sure if anyone else on the list is a Stage 4? I am currently taking Femara and getting injections (can't think of the med name) that shut down my hormone production as I am ER+ plus I am 5 treatments into rads to my spine. I am doing very well and have almost no pain in my back which was what initially sent me to the ER where my cancer was first found.

Anyway, I Googled laser therapy and it doesn't appear to be a really new treatment; it's used for minimally invasive breast cancer in place of a lumpectomy.

I wonder Carol, is the treatment you are speaking of?

Glad to be part of the list. You are all very warm and caring.

Hi Carla,

Welcome to the group. We might have one or two ladies that joined in the last few months that are Stage IV. We have a sister group that started several years ago by some of the members here that were Stage IV. They wanted to be able to talk freely and not scare the newly diagnosed. You might want to check them out also.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/stageivbreastcancer

They aren't as active as this group but they are a wonderful group of ladies.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs

You might want to check them out also.

Hi Carla, I'm don't know who Google found for you but the clinic I went to doesn't do invasive surgery because the treatments they offer are done with laser instead of with surgery, chemo. and radiation. I know they do laser therapy on skin ca., breast ca, tumors or sarcomas in the glands (lymph nodes) mouth and more. When I was there I was amazed to learn about the cancers that were treated, the week before I was there, there was a 91 yr. old man with a large tumor on his neck that they took care of (the people at the desk of the motel told us abut him and were truly amazed). Anyway I wish our Medical doctors would let us know about everything that's available so we can make an informed choice how we want to deal with the cancer and not have to search the web to find out about what's available. With the new technology of today we can expect to hear of amazing new therapies that can deal with

cancer. I wish I'd known about this when I first found Cancer 11 years ago and saved myself a lot of suffering. My prayer is that women get the best treatment possible and have the support of family and freinds, I am new to this group but I can see how it is a blessing to be able to ask questions of ladies who have gone through it and want to help others who are now in for a tough time. Please believe me when I say I'm praying for God to heal your body quickly. Carol PS The doctor at the laser clinic said she treats cancers at any stage so a stage 4 would be helped as a stage 1, 2, or 3 would be. Carol

Hi Carol, I'm near the middle of the mitten; half an hour south west of Mt. Pleasant.

How are you feeling with your treatments; well I hope? I wish you good news on your next CT scan. I know I won't be able to put off chemo forever, but it would be really nice if hormonal treatment worked for several years. My doctor told me he has a patient that has been on hormonal treatment for 4 1/2 years without progression and doing very well. I know I will have to wait at least a couple months to see if this is going to work for me.

It is so good to hear from several of you here in Michigan. Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Hugs,

Carla

Carla, wow your not very far at all. We are about 2 hrs north of MT. Pleasant . I am feeling just great now but just a gut feeling when I see the doctor next month he will start chemo again and I am not looking forward to that. This is my 4th time around with the dragon, I was 33 when first diagnosed so its been 12 yrs come November for me. I was on arimidex at one time and it worked for 2 and half yrs keeping my cancer at bay. Wish it worked longer. We are going up to munising for the night to listen to some good blue grass music. My brothers friend has a band and his brother lives up there and its his b-day. So I invited myself we went last year and had a blast. They are playing in a bar up there. Take care and have a wonderful weekend

Hi Carla,

Welcome to the group. We might have one or two ladies that joined in the last few months that are Stage IV. We have a sister group that started several years ago by some of the members here that were Stage IV. They wanted to be able to talk freely and not scare the newly diagnosed. You might want to check them out also.

They aren't as active as this group but they are a wonderful group of ladies.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs

Carol... if they won't allow you to talk about it here (but I really don't see why not, especially since it could maybe save someone from lots of unneccessary suffering)

.... maybe you can send me a private email about that laser therapy.

Thanks... -OJ wrote:

Dawn,

I do not know your age,

but most with a family history of colon cancer have their first exams as soon as they are aware of a connection...

no family history colonoscopies routinely begin at age 50.

Colon polyps double in size every year and are so curable when caught early.

hun...im 30, and they just happened to find my breast cancer during my yearly exam

Dawn,

You are young, one of the Athens GA girls here with breast cancer was 20+

and on the gymnastics team at UGA. She is doing well after treatment.

And I am sure you will also.

This year I have also made radiation creme for

a 28 year old that was pregnant when her colorectal was found- she had a spinal so the baby would be safe as they did the moms' surgery...the baby is doing fine and so is the mom

and they are watching for her to develop breast cancer.

If we all keep communicating I feel sure we will find THE connections and get this epidemic under control. It all makes me wonder. We all have a purpose in the cure. Be strong.
