In order to " see how the > thyroid does alone " . Would she tell an insulin diabetic to " just stay off insulin for a while to see what the pancreas can do on its own. " ? Somehow I don't think so. I'm unable to think of a better analogy at the moment, but maybe taking oxygen away from someone with lung damage to " see what the lungs can do on their own " would be a good one. I like the lung one, because I saw first hand what happened to my mother when her oxygen wasn't getting through due to the line getting holes in it. sol

It's not well known, therefore people doont understand. There should be commericials and news broadcast about the new learned about adrenal conditions and how serious they really are. katie
Guest guest
Your experience with people is very common. No one really seems to understand that faulty glands are just that..faulty. After all, you would not take insulin away from a diabetic, so why take cortisol away from someone with adrenal fatigue. Same thing...pancreas not making enough insulin..it's a gland... I have learned that you can talk till your blue in the face, and some people will not get it. You have to do what you need to in order to feel normal and function. If you mother does not understand that...well, I guess that would be her loss. After all, it might be information that she could use, since adrenal/thyroid problems can run in families. I know it's frustrating! My mom is so obviously adrenal fatigue and living on T4 which is not working for her. No matter how many times I explain why T4 is not good, and why she still feels like crap..she doesn't get it. She won't do anything about it, she won't see a different doctor. And she has read some of the books. I came to a point where I had to wash my hands of it, and concentrate on making my own health better. So essentially: to answer you, yes you have to wash your hands of it...I wish we could save everyone, but many don't want to be saved. The older generation was taught that Doctors are God's and what they say is Law. That someone how they are more than human and perfect and all knowing. Which is why most older folks live on prescriptions to deal with symptoms, but never get better. > > Hi, > > Does anyone else have people around them (other than doctors..) > who think that cortisol is just " another drug " that you can " take or > not take - it really doesn't make much difference " - who don't > understand that it is a *natural* hormone and having an adequate > amount of it is NOT acceptable?
