Guest guest
OK, i am full of questions today, and the first one being that I FINALLY got a physician to listen to my request for low dose naltrexone, and I picked up my prescription today. Unfortunately, it if for 50 mg. tablets, and if I read correctly, I should be starting out at about 2.5 mg. and upping to 4.5. I further read now that a compounding pharmacy is necessary - is this the case. Also, I have read that absolutely no alcohol can be taken while on this medication, and yet I received my prescription today without any warning or indicators on that????? Guest guest
yes you need to have it compounded, if you don't have a place close to you then check the LDN site they have several places and not too expensive. Yes you can drink a little wine once in awhile, just not every day and a lot. Guest guest
You do not need to have it compounded. Go to the pharmacy and get them to give you a liquid measuring plastic bottle and a liquid syringe. They will give this to you for free. Put 50 ml water in the bottle and drop the 50 mg tablet in. Then when it's dissolved, siphon out your dose of 4.5 mg or start lower if you wish. Store the bottle in the fridge. This is what I do, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than going to a compounding pharmacy. I pay about $35 a year this way. Re drinking, that is also false. I have been drinking on LDN for 3 years with no problems. > > OK, i am full of questions today, and the first one being that I FINALLY > got a physician to listen to my request for low dose naltrexone, and I picked > up my prescription today. Guest guest
you can make the ldn solution you need out of the 50 mg tablets. i learned about this on the group for ldn but have never done it myself. if you ask there i am sure someone can help you. it involves dissolving the tablet in water and then drinking a certain amount each day. you store it in the fridge so it keeps. monique
