Guest guest
Have other Type 1's seen an increase of about 40-60 points within 1-2 hours of taking IsoCort? Twice today I've gone from around 70-75 up to 130 (! which I normally would NEVER hit, and which usually makes me quite tired - this reaction is gone with a 'cortisol rise') The amount of the rise doesn't seem to be dependent on the amount of IsoCort (about the same rise happened with 3 and 2 pellets). Both were paired with 1/2 grain Armour. Strangely, it *didn't* happen when I took my morning dose (5 IC, 1/2 grain A) - there I got a modest rise of only 80 to in 1/5 hours 90 (still enough to make me irritable). Since the increase happens over an hour (and doesn't start immediately, sometimes BG seems to DROP immediately after the IC/A), I can't just inject fast acting insulin to cover it then. A 1.5u dose subcutaneously seems to take care of it - after it has happened that is. Does this mean my IC is too high, or does the fact it's only showing up now mean that my IC is (maybe) correct) and before it was too low? I've also recently switched from Lantus to Levemir, which could have something to do with it (Lantus seems to last 15 hours for me, Levemir for only 12-13, and if the published bioavailability curves are to be believed, Levemir is less stable than Lantus, and takes longer (8-9 hours vs 4) to reach it's peak) If anybody knows how I could order 200 units of Lantus at a time directly from Sanofi- Aventis, I'd be happy as a clam (unless of course with normal cortisol and thyroid levels my basal goes up..)
