Guest guest
Yeah !! That's great news. I'm no expert but I've been on both AP and MTX. I tried to go off MTX once. My experience has been that you DO NOT get benefits from MTX until 4 to 6 weeks. If you are feeling good I would stop the MTX, continue the AP and see what happens. I know it is scary to think of being in so much pain that you cannot get around and in that case you would want to be on the MTX working toward that 4 to 6 week mark for some relief. But, if you can discern that the relief you are experiencing is from AP alone, it would be much better for you to not go down the MTX route. Here is the tricky part, I felt pretty good on the same day I took MTX and was able to skip Naproxen (NSAID) on that day which I've never done in 3 months. Will that be my immune system was responding to a new drug & gave me a break in banging my joints OR perhaps the AP has started to work. I dont believe MTX has kicked in just a couple of hours after taking it. > > Here is the best part, since last friday until now, I've experienced 4 painful days (WITH-NSAID) and 3 good days (without-NSAID). This is a miracle for me as I have not experienced so much in one week in the past 3 months. Even now my knees got better in walking. > > EVALUATING PART: If AP has started to work - I consider it a good news. Today I did not even take my second dose of MTX. I learned from the web source that it takes 3-6 weeks to see sign of improvement and 8-12 weeks for a full benefit. Will it work within 7 days?? Guest guest
For me, I was on MTX for more than 2 months and it did nothing positive for me. It wasted two months of my life and caused me to lose a lot of hair. I remember my rheumy saying that it takes awhile for it to kick in; hence, the two month plus period of time. I hope for your sake it is the AP working. Good luck with it. Mona rheumatic Re: AP and MTX..good or bad news???
