Guest guest
Your first sentence said it all. Methotrexate and celebrex are toxic and probably cumulative. I don't know. You ask the loaded question. What causes this. Well, we are always open to invading microorganisms especially if we have taken drugs prior to the antibiotics which have compromised our immune system. That tooth may have been harboring a whole colony of germs that ran thru your system when let loose. No one really knows. Have you had blood work to find the culprit in your case. Possibly there are more than one type of bacteria/virus running thru your system. Sorry to hear that you have developed an allergy to Minocin. There are other antibiotics, but be sure it is an allergy first, so you do not have some adverse reactions. Doxycycline is a good substiture. What does Dr. Mirkin say? I am interested to hear the rest of this story. Please keep us abreast of what is happening. Were you able to get off the hormone therapy. If the hormones were bioidentical, then there should have been no problem. Of course, too much of a good thing can also be harmful. Glad to hear you weaned off the meth & Celebrex. Best to you and stay in touch. Thank you, Dolores & Mike From: <shelleypainter@...> Subject: rheumatic which path to follow for recovery rheumatic Date: Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 11:52 AM  I was on methotrexate and celebrex for years until I moved to the DC area and saw Dr Gabe Mirkin. He got me off those 2 heavy duty drugs and put me on minocycline. I was deeply grateful. After 4 years on the antibiotic and feeling terrific, I asked him if I could stop taking the antibiotic. I felt that I was cured. Big mistake. At the same time, I was on a low dose of bioidentical hormones. I paid for a consultation with a PHD in pharmacology who said I was low in estrogen and he suggested a much higher dose. I graduated up to his dosage and within 2-3 months I broke a tooth that had an old mercury filling. It was almost instanteous. ..my body was attacked. I went from feeling terrific to flat on my back. Looking back I feel that the dosage for estrogen was far too much. I won't go into all that transpired the last 3+ years except to say that I am allergic to minocycline now. My question is whether this is a mycoplasma, a retrovirus, or some other critter that is yet unknown or is RA a function of bad nutrition, allergic reactions, and/or a permeable gut? Guest guest
I think the cause can be number of things or a combination: allergies, toxicity, viral or bacterial infection....truth is no one knows definitively - it's quite complicated.  I have DM and have high levels of mercury from mouth full of fillings and tuna consumption. My doc is doing chelation and mega doses of vit C and other stuff to boost immune system via weekly IVs.   My symptoms started in Feb 09 with skin rash; then developed muscle weakness and got pretty sick in Sept 09 until recently.  Went on 60 mg predisone and 1000 mg cellcept when I got so ill. My doc gradually weaned me off as built up immune system and am now on 500 cellcept and 5 predisone. I feel great and am functioning again, still have a way to go  before I'm back to " normal " , but am optimistic.  Good luck.  From: <shelleypainter@...> Subject: rheumatic which path to follow for recovery rheumatic Date: Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 9:52 AM  I was on methotrexate and celebrex for years until I moved to the DC area and saw Dr Gabe Mirkin. Guest guest
Charlene, ask your doctor for " low dose Naltrexone " it helps with the muscle weakness. I have been taking it for 5 months and can really tell the difference. Guest guest
Eva:  Thanks - I will, but my muscles are actually doing pretty well. I'm stronger every day and not as constricted. My skin is the big issue - just will not heal and continues to drive me nuts b/c so itchy.  How's your's?  Thanks again, Charlene From: <shelleypainter> Subject: rheumatic which path to follow for recovery rheumatic@grou ps.com Date: Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 9:52 AM  I was on methotrexate and celebrex for years until I moved to the DC area and saw Dr Gabe Mirkin.
