Hi,

I have my results from Diagnos-Tech. I would appreciate help with

ideas for a treatment plan.

Collection Date 1/13/08, Received 1/15/08, Completed 1/18/08

47 year old Female

7-8 am 20, (normal 13-24 nM)

11-Noon 7 (normal 5-10 nM)

4-5 pm 8 (normal 3-8 nM)

11-midnight 5 (elevated 1-4 nM)

DHEA 4 (normal 3-10 ng/ml)

4. Maladapted Phase II, Midnight value is elevated suggesting a lack

of sensitivity to suppression at the pituitary-hypothalamic-axis.

This condition is usually associated with a tendency to endogenous

depression and REM sleep disruptions. Phosphorylated serine

derivatives are reported to help optimize HPA responsiveness.

FTSH 68 (normal 2-85 nIU/ml)

fT4 0.20 (normal 0.17-0.42 ng/dl)

fT3 (0.34 normal 0.28-1.10 pg/ml)

TPO negative (normal negative)

E2 Estradiol > 99 high (HRT target 5-13 pg/ml)

P1 Progesterone 254 within range (luteal 65-500)

TTF Free Testosterone 27 Elevated (normal 8-20 pg/ml)

I was off all adrenal support for 16 days before the test.

I take estradiol topical and testosterone topical for peri. The

estradiol and testosterone tests have to be inaccurate due to my

topical use of these hormones the day of my test. I have no estrogen

or testosterone excess symptoms. I take just enough T & E to

eliminate low sex hormone symptoms. Blood work never shows elevated

estradiol, it is usually lower than I would like on the results. My

progesterone level seems to correlate well with day 20 of my cycle; I

ovulated but had not used any extra progesterone. My thyroid results

are consistent with blood work results. My basal morning temps are

about 97.8-98.2 pre ovulation/progesterone and 98.5-98.9 post

ovulation and or with progesterone.

A year ago I developed a respiratory infection and felt that I did not

recover well and crashed. My pupil response was positive. My fatigue

was severe. I started some adrenal extract and licorice root which

helped me a great deal. With the adrenal support my pupil response

became negative. I continued to have afternoon fatigue problems

requiring naps and trouble sleeping at night. I have trouble waking

up and getting out of bed in the morning.

I also have issues with adrenalin shots/zaps especially in the evening

and when I am trying to fall asleep at night. Every time I hear a

noise like my husband snoring I get a zap. This adrenalin thing

happens in the afternoon, evening, and nighttime when a minor thing

startles me on TV. I have to sleep with a fan next to my head so that

I cannot hear things at night so that I can sleep.

Last summer I developed a shoulder/arm pain problem. This issue

bothered me for months then I decided to try some topical HC cream on

my shoulder. I was amazed that my shoulder started feeling better and

all of a sudden my afternoon fatigue got better, all of a sudden I no

longer had to take afternoon naps. I was using about 2-5 mg in the

late morning and sometimes again in the afternoon. My shoulder was

better but the HC cream seemed to disrupt my sleep more at night. I

found that if I took 2.5 grams of HC cream at bedtime I slept really

well. The noise from my husband's snoring stopped causing adrenalin

zaps; if I used 2.5 mg of HC cream the snoring was just noise. I used

a small dose one time before watching Die Hard 3 and for the first

time that I could remember I did not have adrenalin zaps from

startling things in a movie. (I measure my cream with a 0.01 gram scale).

I decided I really needed to figure out what was going on so I stopped

everything and took my saliva tests two weeks later. Off my adrenal

support, I could not sleep in my room even with the fan. I had to

sleep in a different noise free (except the fan) room. My adrenalin

zaps seemed worse. My shoulder problem/pain came back full force.

After my midnight test I took 2.5 mg of HC cream and slept really well

in my room with my husband. I have mostly been sleeping well since

then with 2.5 mg of HC cream at bedtime. I restarted some licorice

extract and I am feeling fairly well with much less fatigue. My

shoulder is feeling so much better again. I still have some adrenalin

zaps in the evening. I know that a small dose of HC cream would get

rid of the zaps but I have been hesitant to use it except at bedtime.

I still have trouble waking up and getting out of bed in the morning.

I do well with 9-10 hours of sleep at night.

One thing that I should mention is that when I discontinued my adrenal

support I discovered that my multi had Ginkgo Biloba in it. Several

years ago I discovered that Ginko can sometimes make me sleepy. I

think discontinuing that supplement may have helped with some of my

afternoon fatigue.

I am gluten intolerant. I have been on a strict gluten free diet for

over 1.5 years. I have a Celiac gene and a Gluten Intolerant gene. I

have been anemic in the past. My last two ferritin results have been

low (May result was 28). I have been taking large(er) amounts of iron

since last April to get my level up (per Stop the Thyroid Madness old

ferritin board). I am over due for another ferritin test.

I am baffled by my Cortisol results. I have no clue what to do about

my adrenal support. I have not tried phosphorylated serine before. I

do not understand why HC cream and licorice help me so much. I need

to be able to sleep at night and I hate the adrenalin zaps. Any ideas

and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kathy
