Dena - what a wonderful transformation. I understand the joy you

experienced...the decision to take control of our lives by having this

life-saving, life-changing surgery was the best one we've ever made. The

best to you.

Dena,

Thanks for the inspiration. I, too, have been hanging on to a pair of jeans

for 10 years. Crazy, maybe, but I will wear them. Congratulations on your

success.

,

Thank you for this inspiring email, for me, unfortunately I am still at the

stage where you were at.....the isolation, the not wanting to get out of bed

each day (but thank goodness I do have to get up to go to work each day, or

I would stay in bed all day!). Your email gives me hope......hope for when

I do have the surgery (still waiting for insurance), that

I too will feel as you are feeling now......on top of the world!

Congratulations for your success and continued success!

Hello Everyone,

I read all the post everyday for almost a year now and I've really

enjoyed hearing everyones story. I just wanted to give a little

update on me. I had WLS on Feb 19 in San Diego with Dr. Zorn. At

the beginning of Feb I was still 310 and I needed to be 295 for

surgery. I think I was trying to sabatoge myself, knowing that this

is what I wanted the most and so afraid that it was not going to

happen. When I weighed in the day before surgery I was 286. After

eight weeks of surgery I was 245 and so very happy. The surgeon was

pleased with my results. For the next 8 weeks after that I lost

nothing, I mean not a pound! But I continued to eat as I should (no

snacking), and I went to the gym everyday and pushed myself

everyday. But I was so discouraged, I thought this really is not

going to happen, I'm a failure. So I went to see a surgeon on June

22 in Sacramento, he was not upset at my progress and was very

encouraging. He said that I was buring lots of fat, my clothes in

those 8 weeks had changed almost 3 sizes (strange I think). He said

just do what I've been doing and for me not to get so frustrated. I

felt a lot better just knowing that he was not worried that

something was not working right. He even said I was very healthy

which felt wonderful to have a doctor say to me. In all the posts

that I have read I have not seen any where people did not lose so

early in the game. That is why I wanted to share this. So it has

been two weeks since I've seen the surgeor and I have lost about 23

lbs. I'm just so happy that it is working. Today I was 220!

What I have learned is that what is important is to do the right

things even if we don't see the results right away, our bodies need

time to adjust.

Thanks for letting me share!!! You are all so wonderful!

Thanks for sharing that point J'net. You experience helps us to

remember that our results are often not instant, but that over time,

with good efforts, our hard work will pay off.

The self-sabatoge demon is a difficult one to deal with. I'm glad

where here for each other to talk about it so that we can recognize

it and confront it.

Continued success to you,

Gemello
