Guest guest
Anyone familiar with PET scans and does anyone know just how well those will highlight brain injuries/damage? Or is a SPECT scan better for brain injury? I've had repeated head injuries but also some of my doctors have indicated long term chronic pain and even the Lyme disease itself can also cause brain damage. Actually they were just going to PET scan my lung after a nodule was discovered on a catscan, but then I asked if they could scan my brain to prove the brain damage. But does anyone know if PETs actually will show old head injuries? Ange
Guest guest
As far as I know the PET enhancement of a CAT scan is to outline blood vessels. Unless your brain damage had produced vascular changes, a PET scan might not prove helpful. One change that might be noticed is an area of reduced circulation.
